Segale Bros Wood Products Inc

From start to finish, I had an excellent experience with Segale Bros. The sales person, Michael, was very helpful and informative. Charlene in the office, Jay and all the construction crew were friendly and obviously good at what they do. The crew was on time each day and did an excellent job at cleaning up so I could still use the kitchen in the evening. I am very pleased with my new cabinets. I highly recommend Segale Bros.

15The project went so well that we hired them again to renovate the bathrooms.  
These projects were done several years ago but the major point of this review is to applaud their follow up service.  Recently an elaborate hinge on a corner cabinet failed and the double cabinet door hung awry.  Charlene at Segale Brothers answered our call for help by sending a new, difficult to find hinge.  When the problem proved  to be the mounting plate not the hinge, she made a trip to the post office and sent us a new plate by Priority Mail so the repair could be made before Thanksgiving!   Now that's service!  And all gratis!  So we rate them 5 Star.

They did a phenomenal job!!!  I was blessed to find them.  They are family owned, well known and respected in their industry. They are professional and know exactly what they are doing. Whatever obstacles came up during the project they had a solution right away. Hearing stories from everyone, I was a little skeptical but it turned out great.  I would use them again without a second thought.

The work was excellent, and the cabinets have endured beautifully.  The designer was extremely helpful with the layout, and choosing the materials.
The only thing was that some of the measurements were off so slightly, that we did not end up installing beautiful side panels because the added thickness would have impeded onto adjacent  window trim.
Also, they "misplaced" our order so we had an unbelievable delay.
But the work was excellent and we would use them again.

This project was done in two seprate phases - kitchen first and then master bathroom.  Both projects went well and smoothly.  Our General Contractor (GC), McElroy Construction determined that our kitchen cabinets (which I have massive amounts of) better qualified for a complete reface instead of a demo/replace (since we wanted to keep our existing granite countertops and the interior of the cabinets were still in excellent condition) and suggest Seagale Brothers. We called Seagale Brothers and their sales rep, Dave Hansen came out the next day to meet with us to go over different options (e.g. soft close drawers, etc).  Dave was easy to work with and had many good suggestions/ideas.   After we went through our wish list and discussed possible configurations, made an appointmetn and met Dave at Seagale Bros. showroom in Hayward (very nice, clean and tons of samples) and confirmed the confirguation, colors, styles, hardware etc.  We set a tentative install date and placed a deposit for the work.
From this point, the majority of the communication was done via email since the cabinet drawings had to be reviewed and approved by our GC and electrian.  I notice that one of the Seagale family was always copied on the drawings and communications so they were in the loop as well.
Our GC came in first and demo what needed to be replaced and preped the kitchen area.  Seagle'sr crew was very professional.  During the two weeks it took to do the reface and in one area replace, the guys always arrived on time, were efficient (worked with very little down time), cleaned up as much as possible each evening.  They worked well with our GC and the team of electrians that were also doing other work at the same time.  The final product was beautiful and you could tell that the work was done by crafts men.  The final product looked like they were all new cabinets instead of a major reface.
We liked the work Seagle Bros did so much we contracted with them to custom make our master vanity cabinet, toilet topper and custom frame for our new medicine cabinet.  Turned out we had a bit more problems with our master bathroom area so we had to change our plans a bit.  Seagle Bros. helped us design, constructed and delivered the vanity cabinet and toilet topper.  Our GC was extremely pleased with the finished product but due to various problems, our GC installed these components and they were perfect!  Due to various reasons, we gave up on having a custom frame made for the medicine cabinet.
We worked with a number of people at Seagale and all were professional and efficient.  We only had one problem which was the final billing of the vanity cabinet and toilet topper since we had some adjustments during this process.  We received an envelope that contained a statement that made no sense.  When I called the Seagle (which was during the weekend) I was informed that the accounts payable person would not be in until Monday.  When I called on Monday, I was told this person was still out but they transfered me to Christine Seagle who pulled our file and after reviewing our account was able to email me (the sane day) a clarification on what we actually owned so I was able to mailed them the final payment.
It's evident that this is a family run company that does quality work.  We are extermely pleased with their work and we would use them again.

We initially worked with Dave Hansen who gave us estimates, helped us pick out the final choices, and made all the measurements.  He is great to work with, and made our decisions easier.  He was very responsive to all of our calls and emails.
All the work was completed in 6 days.  The workmen (2) were very considerate of our home, and went to great lengths to limit the dust and mess created by their work.  We could not be more pleased and have not hesitated to recommend them to friends and neighbors.

End result looks great. The installers were great. The problem is the person who came out to do the measuring and did the actual ordering of materials ordered the wrong color wood. When they staged the materials in my dining room, there was no way for me to see that the color of the cabinets were darker. All I could see were the drawers and they were the light maple. They were the inside of the drawers and not the face of them I was to discover later. The installers did not review anything before they did the installation. Had they done that I would have discovered the problem before the work was done. I came home in the evening to see that the laminate glued to my existing cabinets was darker than I expected. At 7:00 pm that evening, it was almost impossible to get anyone to help me. One of the owners called me that evening, but was not of any help. The next day another owner called me and told me he would make things right. They did. Although it was a mess to have to have the laminated facing sanded off again and then I had to get through the Holiday season with open cabinets and wait a few weeks for the new doors to arrive. 
They were installed and then another error was discovered in their measurements around my dishwasher. This was when installing the drawer handles. They couldn't come up with a good solution. So I did and asked them if they could machine the handle so it wouldn't stick out as much and I could open my dishwasher! What a pain. The worst part was that the sales person who initially sold me the job, never contacted me to apologize for the series of errors. But the cabinets do look good. The quality of their installers work and the manufacturer of the doors and drawers are very good. They need to improve on their sales, customer service and follow through.
They never offered any discount, they did replace my exhaust hood that they had dented.

Segale Bros gave me a bid to reface the cabinets, offered their own creative ideas,  measured and then came to complete the job.

We had heard about Segale Bros on the raido and we had been considering getting new cabinets for a while. Our initial meet was very good and they came up with a rough estimate for us with drawings. We e soon decided to go with them to do our new cabinets. They came out to measure when they said they would and over the course of several weeks we cam up with what we needed. Waht was nice is that they did not try to talk us into more expensive items, in fact tey tried to get us not to do certian things. This we liked. The cabinets were ready a week early and they showed up on time to install. The crew was very professional and cleaned up every day when they were done. All the work was done on time. They even install a real nice baseboard that we were not expecting. The follow up was good and they came out quickly to take care of any punchlist items. I tell people "If you think you can't afford custom cabinets, think again". We are totally peased with our new cabinets. The only real glitches we had were some minor communication problems. One was what kind of material you get when you order a certian type inside finish and the other was a forgotten change order. Like I said they were both very minor. I enjoyed the whole experience. Ask a lot of questions as you go along and always keep an open mind to changes. We are so glad we had Segale do the work for us

The initial home visit gave us details of choices and just how the job would be accomplished. This was followed by a showroom visit in Segale's Hayward offices for final selection of door design,etc. The job was scheduled for a few weeks later. Their measurer came the next week, and work started on time and was done in the agreed 5 days. The work area was clean at the end of each day. The final product was just what we wanted. Segale Bros is the best contractor we have ever worked with.

My experience with Segale was extremely positive. Not only did they finish on time, the appearance of the new cabinets greatly exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend them.

THE DESIGNER LISTENED TO WHAT NEEDED AND DESIGNED GREAT FUNCTIONAL AND ATTRACTIVE UNITS TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE STORAGE, IN AN EASY TO USE FORMAT. THERE WAS EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION BETWEEN THE DESIGNER AND INSTALLERS. THE WORK WAS DONE PROMPTLY AND EFFICIENTLY AND ON TIME.
