"Thank you for the kind review. I hope everything is going good in the new house."
Decided to try this one again with the Big Deal special. In the end, given his generous calculation of measurements, it again ended up costing about 50% more than anyone else I've had clean the carpet in the last 10 years (all satisfactory cleanings). The typical price has been $120-$130 ... Cole's price was $190.
On the good side, he was punctual, claimed to use top quality, environmentally friendly cleaning solution, the carpet looked good, and he finished quickly (I had moved all small furniture, etc. out of the cleaning area so he had only a few major furniture pieces to work around).
The carpet took far longer to dry than he estimated (and longer than usual in my experience) - not sure why since the weather was nice and I opened windows, etc. In addition, one area that gets a lot of traffic and showed it, received the same treatment as all other areas. When he finished, I checked that area specifically and noticed nothing unusual. However, when it dried, I later noticed it was dingier looking than the rest. I'm sure he would have come back if I'd asked but I re-cleaned it myself.
In all, it was a decent but not great job. If it wasn't so much more expensive, I'd probably use them again because I like the option of green products. If money isn't an issue, and you want someone committed to using environmentally friendly products, this might be a good choice. However, I've had equally good service from a number of other providers in recent years.
When on-site, I asked Matt to quote me on the cleaning of four additional area rugs. He did a perfectly wonderful job on them and delivered them as promised 10 days later, again accommodating my availability.
One thing different about Cole's is that Matt does the work himself. He doesn't have an assistant so he is definitely and quot;in the trenchesand quot; paying attention to the details himself. This is a nice attribute. My final analysis is that Cole's is a quality carpet cleaner which gives reliable, professional service and delivers on their promise. I would call Matt again for wall-to-wall carpet cleaning as well as area rug cleaning.
Cleaning process went fine, took about half a day, technician was not excessively chatty (great), but also did did not provide much info about what was being done unless directly asked, bragged about his carpet cleaning abilities and dissed competitors, review sites, etc. (somewhat annoying).
He was very thorough on the furniture, especially the sofa withe the urine accident. He soaked it with cleaner, in fact. The furniture took much longer to dry than expected. We were told a couple days, but it was more than a week, which caused a lot of stress because we feared it would get moldy. It didn't, and the urine smell never returned. So we were pleased with the furniture cleaning in the end.
With the carpet, we were less pleased. It was admittedly very dirty, and looked much better when the technician left. However a few spots were discovered remaining after the technician left (most notably a blue tempera paint stain between a bed and slider) and it was unclear whether they were missed or treated and wouldn't come out. Spots in high traffic areas returned within about a month. Perhaps if he hadn't made such strong claims that spots would not return after his work, but would if we had gone with a competitor, I would not have been as disappointed with the carpet results.
Overall, the quality seemed average, price a little on the high side. We would probably try a different vendor for carpet cleaning in future, might use Cole's for furniture cleaning.
