He came back the next day in the time frame he provided and was very nice and professional.
I did have one lock that wasn't working and he said he could change it out for me and was very clear about what the additional cost would be. There wasn't anything unexpected when I got the final bill.
"Thank you for your Business, we apprecaite the good reviews"
My sister was in town to help with the move, and since i had to work she offered to go pick them all up during that day. She did.
When I got home, the locks were all there, stacked neatly on the stairs. I didn't want to waste time changing locks that day, since my sister was leaving in the morning. So installing the locks was put off another day.
The next evening, I went to install the locks. Hmmm...where are the keys? They're not in any of the boxes...
I text my sister "Hey, do you remember where you put the new keys?"
Her: "Crap. They're on my keyring. I didn't want to lose them."
Argh. She's in New Mexico at this point. No problem, we think, she can just FedEx them. I've never had anything but great experiences with FedEx.
Well, until this time. FedEx lost them somewhere between Sacramento & the Oakland hub.
Argh. After literally a week of daily calls to FedEx asking for a trace, they decide they're officially lost.
I call Home Depot and explain the situation. The random Hardware person says this is no problem and to bring all the locks in. The staff locksmith disagrees -- in order to re-key, he needs at least one working key or I would need a locksmith to pick each cylinder so that it's in an unlocked position. I call his locksmith friend who says it'll be "usually $25 to $50 per cylinder, depending on the type". But he's not even in the shop, he's driving somewhere.
So, I use my handy AngiesList iPhone app to find a local locksmith and Bayside Locksmith is very close. I call them and explain the situation. Slightly cheaper estimate per cylinder, but same basic deal. *sigh* What can I do?
I drive over with my sad pile of unlockable locks and brace myself to basically re-pay for everything. I take them into the shop and tell my sad tale.
The guy takes one of the lock halves, does some wizardry with the lock (picking it from the back of the housing using a little metal spoon thing, not picking it in the through-the-keyhole way I would have expected), drops the cylinder, examines it visually, manually grinds out a series of test keys, and on the third attempt, BOOM, locks open.
He only charged me $35, but I had a pile of spares made. Totally saved my a**.
You should go here. Seriously. They have an excellent selection of those exciting screen-printed keys, too.
"Awesome review Thanks for the help and Business"
