He is a very hard working humble man. He knows what he is doing and always made all of my options very clear to me. Would definitely use him again

When I first called Gilder, he was out of town.  He said he'd return in a week.  Once back, he called me right away and came to see the house.  I had previously tried to hire several tile guys but they were all busy on big jobs.  I hired Gilder based on Angie's List reviews that I'd collected some months ago which said he did good tile work.
Gilder removed my kitchen back splash carefully to preserve as much of the drywall as possible.  He then retiled around my kitchen window and above the sink.  He was meticulous in tiling and took time to figure out how to install the tile symmetrically and so the cuts wouldn't show.  He worked h****** the trim pieces and had to cut them at 45 degree angles so they'd look nice.  
I want to retile the balance of the back splash and Gilder and his cousin, Luis, worked very hard to prepare these walls for painting.  Gilder also fixed some bad wall tape in my entry and hall.
Gilder does electrical work so I had him install a new outlet in the kitchen.  
I was going to have my regular painter paint the entry, kitchen and family room a new color but, when I saw the good quality of Gilder's work, I decided to let Gilder paint the rooms.  He painted the family room and kitchen which required two coats over dark brown paint.  I didn't see a drop of paint anywhere on the drop cloths so he's very careful and precise.  He was able to free hand most of the trim so that he didn't need to tape.  He took extra time to caulk the kitchen and a built-in wood cabinet so they'd look perfect.  My regular painter, who's a perfectionist, couldn't have done better.
Lastly, Gilder found the nail that was popped up in my roof letting water in.  He fixed the leak quickly and it rained that night and again today with no leaking!  He patched the ceiling tape where it had come loose from the previous leak and then primed and repainted that area of the ceiling.  He feathered in the new paint so that you can't tell where the ceiling was newly painted.
Gilderworks very hard, has a good eye for detail, makes great suggestions and is very pleasant.  He arrived on time every day.  He speaks great English too.  In Spanish, his name means Golden Castle and he is, indeed, a treasure.  I plan to hire him again many times.  I was torn about writing this review because I'm afraid he'll get so much business he won't have time for me!

He did the work and it was successful in stopping the leak. I was happy with his service. However, it initially took several times to reach him on the phone and I haven't been able to reach him since the work was done. I have given up.

Gilder was dependable and patient when working out a discrepancy with Home Depo in the type of door order. Gilder is a pleasant and conscientious carpenter.

Mr. Castillo arrived on time to make the estimate, and we agreed to have him perform the work. He and his two assistants arrived as scheduled a week later and completed the work in just over two days as estimated. Mr. Castillo replaced the insulation in the wall between the kitchen and garage and repaired the drywall in the ceiling and wall. The wallpaper was removed and the ceiling and wall were painted in our selected colors. The workmen covered the kitchen cabinets with plastic to protect them, and they cleaned up the area at the end of each day. The floodlight was mounted above the garage.

The total price was a very reasonable $1,100 for labor and materials.

We were pleased with the work that Mr. Castillo and his team performed and will contact him again for future needs.

Castillo was very responsive to my initial phone call. He arrived on the day and time that we agreed. He assessed the work to be done, quoted me a price and stuck to it. Castillo was professional; he cleaned up his work space daily and he delivered what we agreed on. The only reason I give him a B on punctuality is because - once he did not show up as planned but he did have his wife call with a descent explanation (I can't remember what). I would definately use Castillo again.

Gilder arrived on the date and time as agreed and began work right away. Gilder was very professional and had the experience needed to do a quality job. He understood our financial limitations and stayed within budget. The work was finished on time and everything looks just great. I would use Gilder again for any future work that I may need. He especially went the extra mile to remove and replace my old shower valves, which turned out to be a labor intensive and frustrating job. Gilder is a hard working Handy Man and I would recommend him to anyone needing his services.

Gilder Castillo estimated the job on 7/21/12 and started the work on 7/31/12 since it took about a week to receive the specialordered solid core doors. The work was all completed on 8/04/12. The job site was cleaned each day and the debri removed.Gilder and his crew arrived promptly at about 8:30 AM each day and left around 5:30PM Gilder and his crew did an excellentjob with lots of attention to detail such as painting and reinstalling our house numbers before leaving on the last day at 4 PM.I would highly recommend Gilder and his crew for your handyman and painting jobs!!!

Do give a detailed list of items to be done and check progress daily. He is a wonderful, do it all, handyman. We will hire him again for future work.

Gilder came out and gave me an estimate, arranged a time mutually acceptable to us both. He purchased the steel door and hardware from Home Depot, showed up when he said he would, and did a terrific job. Cleaned everything up and hauled the old door away. Most of the cost was for the door itself and the hardware for which he provided receipts. Impressed with his work and will use him in the future for handyman projects.

Gilder came by and gave me an estimate for the work. I okayed it and he came back as often as he could to complete it.
The work was well done, but you need to provide details and make everything clear about what you want to make sure you're on the same page. He eventually had to custom make the door sill because ready-made was not the right size. That extended the project out somewhat, but he did complete everything.

He is a serious young man and a quiet worker. I will definitely use him again. I feel he's honest and trustworthy.

First, he is the most professional contractor I've worked with to date! He explained things honestly and gave advice on the door. He showed up on time for the free estimate and he reworked his schedule to do a rush job for me before the painters came. He and his partner obviously knew what they were doing as they took their time to do it right. The door moves smoothly and solidly, which is amazing because this 80 year old house doesn't have a square corner in it! Will use him again for sure.

Went well. On schedule. Easy to deal with. Stuck to quoted price even when the hours went longer than estimated. Gilder does great work. He gives fair quotes, about $25 per hour on my job. Painfully honest and patient. Really cares that the customer is satisfied. If you ask him to bring in extra in people to help, he will do so. But you may have to re-explain the job to the new people, and handle the quality control and inspection if Gilder isn’t around. The job will get done faster with extra people, but it is hard to duplicate Gilder’s skill and dedication. I was looking for a good deal, even if it took a little longer to set up and didn’t involve a muti-person company. I also wanted someone who could save me money on supplies. I got what I asked for.

Gilder charged approximately $25 bucks an hour. the quality of work was good. He's my handy guy from now on.

Just wanted to offer a rave review for a hard working individual. I used a contractor to redo my master bathroom last year. A young man by the name of Gilder (pronounced Hill-dair) Castillo was hired by my contractor to do the work. Gilder did it all – plumbing, electrical, tile work, flooring, carpentry, you name it. In the end, I only wished I could have just worked directly with Gilder. But I did manage to get his number in the process and later called him back to help with some other things around our house including some dry wall repair and painting. Gilder is polite, meticulous and dependable. I have no trouble trusting him in my home and he always showed up exactly on time. I honestly couldn’t believe how thorough he is when working. He took great care in prepping and finishing. My husband (who is the pickiest man in the world right down to the last detail) was even happy with the quality of Gilder’s work. I would feel very comfortable recommending this man. He is well worth the money (charged me about $200 a day) and so far I haven’t found anything he can’t do well. Gilder’s English is a little broken, but he seems to understand well. When calling his house I often speak with his wife Anna who speaks very good English.
