I had sent photos of the worksite with draws of the work I needed done. I included notes and measurements. When the company owner eventually contacted me, he was apologetic. He said he didn't see the notification from Angie's List that I had contacted him. He said he didn't need to see my property in order to give me a quote, because my notes to him were so detailed. He said he'd send me a quote by that evening, and indeed he did. Ultimately I did not hire him because another company had already given me a lower price.

While installing the gate the workers broke a plastic sprinkler pipe.  We did not know anything was wrong until the plants started dying around the gate.  My husband and our gardener did some investigating and discovered the broken pipe filled with cement.  When I called Martin (the owner) to inform him of this, he said that this happens all the time and the workers have equipment in their trucks to repair such things.  He denied this was caused by his worker, but told me he would come by  to look at it.  He never showed up.  The pipe was working fine before the gate was installed and broken after the installation, chances are the workers broke the pipe when they were pouring cement to stabilize the post for the gate.  Our gardener fixed the pipe for $100.  Not a huge amount to repair the pipe, but the point is that Martin denied damaging it, when it was obviously his workers fault.

I noticed the gate sagging and saw that the metal post holding up the gate was tilting to one side.  This did not allow me to properly close the gate.  Given my last experience with B&M, I decided to give them another chance and called Martin.  He told me he would come by and again never showed up.  I was prepared to pay for this replace, but I never heard from Martin again.  Thank goodness I was able to find a handyman to make the repair.  

1) Everything went very smoothly.
2) The crew showed up fifteen minutes early and got to work immediately.
3) The original installer had improperly set the posts for our fence and several had started to come loose, on a recent windy day a couple of the vinyl fencing panels blew over.  The B&M team disassembled the entire fence, set several new posts and reassembled the fence.
4) I am very please with the work performed and plan on having them replace a deteriorating redwood fence in the near future.

Everything went great.  He arrived per contract, accomplished the job per time/contract, and he did a great job.  This 3-rail fence was up and down a steep hillside.   This is the third job we have had B&M Fence do for us and we have always been happy with the cost, schedule and performance of each contract. 

I first got a quote from B&M in December, but I put off the work and only arranged it in April.  I got two other quotes for the work.  I wanted a company with workers comp. and liability insurance.  One of the other companies, although highly rated on Angie's List, did not have either.   The other quoted around the same as B&M, but their insurance lapsed a bit before I wanted to book the work.
So I went with B&M.
They were able to fit in my job within 10 days or so which worked out great for me.  They arrived on time, were courteous and did a very professional job on the fence.  The job involved putting metal anchors to fasten the new fence to a cinder block wall at its base. It looks very solid and professional, and I expect it to last a long time.
When they came to do the job, I asked if they could also dig up an old cement foundation from a long ago removed fence that was in the middle of my lawn.  Martin said it would not be a problem, and they removed that as well for a little extra.
 I would definitely use them again, and I would recommend them to anyone for the type of job I had done.

Martin the owner is a pleasant guy but over promised.  Signed the contract in mid summer and gave him 40% down at the supposed start of work.  The emphasis was placed several times that we had to have the project done prior to our move in planned for the end of September/early October.  Despite several calls his crew didn't show up to start the work for six weeks and didn't finish the job until past our move in date.  The result was extra cost at our rental house and extra cost for a temporay fence that had to be put up so we could finally move in with our dogs.  The work done was adequate but only after several changes had to be made.  We now will have the expense of removing the temporary fence and replacing it.
Have not written a negative review before but in this case the buyer needs to be aware.

Contract was specific with start times, and a payment schedule.  They were prompt, did an excellent job, and left everything clean just like when they got there.  I thought the price was reasonable for what we got, and the workmanship was excellent.  I would highly recommend Martin and team at B&M Fence
