The next day Chris and two workers showed up and finished the terrazzo floors, and cleaned the grout. Chris decided the shower grout did not need to be replaced, just cleaned. They epoxied a crack in the terrazzo bathtub, but said they could not polish it because it had too many curves. I caught one worker cleaning and dumping his grout bucket in our brand new, $900.00 stainless steel kitchen sink and left permanent scratches in it. The worker who repaired the mortar cap on the exterior flagstone wainscotting did an incredibly bad job. They pressure washed the wainscotting but did not do the flagstone chimney as agreed upon. They worked about 3 hours and Chris demanded his money. He said the mortar repair and sealant he used was expensive and complained that he bid the job too cheap.
After I paid Chris the agreed amount, they left without cleaning up the spilled mortar, razor blades and trash left in our front yard and lawn. I was very dissatisfied with their work and not use them again. I have since hired another Terrazzo contractor who actually laughed at the workmanship Chris and his workers did. He said the terrazzo was not polished like it should have been, just cleaned and covered with a shiny finish like a sealer. My wife is really upset about getting ripped off because she hired him.
"Impossible to make each and individual customer happy every time. This projects been completed 15th of September, 12 and they post review 12-29-12, which was 90 days later. We did so much free of charge additional work for them to just make them happy. We did every details in our service agreement. If this customer was not happy? Why they paid? Also, during 90 days period, no complaints as well as no phone call at all. If any of our customer unhappy? We always collect immediate action. We are also, 5 star rated from Home dvisor (servicemagic). Once again, impossible to make everyone happy, but 99% of our customer gave us A plus rating. I am just going to chew and swallow! Wish folks could be a bit more reasonable!!!!!!! If they"
I called four vendors I found on Angie's List. One was very inexpensive but rude, another was friendly but very expensive, and still another never called back. Chris returned my call promptly, sounded professional, and was willing to drive from L.A. to my home in eastern Ventura County. This was on Thursday. We made an appointment for Saturday.
Chris and his assistant Kim showed up exactly on time. They examining my kitchen tiles and and quoted a price that was midway between his competitors'. I got a good feeling about the men and hired them on the spot. They returned on Sunday to do the work.
Based on "After" photos I saw on various websites, I assumed my countertops would come out looking uniformly glossy. When they didn't, I asked Chris why there were still dull, rough spots throughout. He explained that the spots were inherent characteristics of my granite tiles. The guys had buffed the tiles with abrasive powder and eliminated the surface scratches, but it would take a large, very powerful factory-type polisher to grind the surface down. After trying to remember what the tiles looked like when new (11 years ago), I had to admit he was right.
When I handed Chris a check for the amount of the estimate, he refused to take it. He insisted on a new check for a lesser amount! He wanted me to be happy, adding "I'm hungry, but not that hungry." That blew me away! I mean, who does that these days? I agreed to the new price only after insisting on leaving a glowing review on Angie's List and elsewhere.
You can bet I'll hire this special man again. And I'll tell my relatives and neighbors and friends and....
After having had three other companies in this house over the years, Chris surpassed their work, their attitude and their price.
We will never use anyone else again. Thanks Chris
