ASC Automotive Service Center

The mechanic (can't remember his name) seemed knowledgeable and professional. I called them in the afternoon and they took my car that day, right before they were closing. Diagnosed the problem the next day and had it ready the following day. After the diagnoses he called me and explained what he found and gave me a quote. It was a simple repair, so I can't comment how how well they handle complicated jobs, but he struck me as a sharp mechanic. The garage was immaculate, cleanest repair shop I've ever seen. The only thing I didn't like was the labor rate. I believe it's 105 an hour. However I just moved to Santa Barbara, so maybe that's the norm here, becasue everything is ridiculously expensive. He also has a 100 dollar diagnostic fee. I don't think a flat fee is always fair, what if it takes 10 minutes to find the problem? In my case I'm guessing it didn't take him long, but I was still charged the fee. Other than the cost, I was satisfied and would definitely return.

Non responsive and tried to sell me extra services.

Richard has had to graciously give me bad news about my cars over the years, but his judgement has always proved to be sound. I believe he's saved me a bundle in the long run.

I was having a difficult time steering the car and was concerned that it was not safe. This is an 08 Malibu with about 20K miles on it. They took the time to listen to my concerns, test drove the car, ran diagnostics and even though they confirmed my concern in the test drive they could not find a problem. They did some research and found that Chevy had issued an extended warranty for this steering problem and my car was covered under it. They even printed it all out for me to show the dealer. Excellent job!!!

I am supremely confident in the professionalism and honesty of this particular service center. I recommend it to my friends without hesitation. I guess the reliability of the services is the key. I do not avoid service, and I am confident that my automobiles (which I seem to keep forever) will be of service for many many years.
