DREAMLINE TILE & CONSTRUCTION

Jesse Torres quoted a price that was almost half of other quotes I had received. He was recommended by Contractors Tile Mart in San Gabriel. At the start, I was on alert a little when he tried to insist on being the one to purchase my "very expensive" tile for me, claiming a discount he could pass on to me. I priced the tile at the store, found it was practically the cheapest tile at the store, and then told him he could buy it if he honored the discount he had quoted. He said they'd already "quoted me the contractors price" (I asked three different people on three different occasions about the price, so I think they quoted their regular price.) Jesse proceeded to install the tile. He was only about one-half hour late on two occasions, and 2+ hours late on 4 or 5 occasions. He increased the total price a bit when he said that he would need to "rebuild the counter top" due to the way the tile had been installed previously; he said he'd just charge me for the extra materials. He looked a bit like a deer in the headlights when I asked for the receipt for these materials, and said I hadn't told him that he would need to provide it. First big problem occurred when I noticed that the tile backsplash was obviously sloped along the back wall (slightly more than one-quarter inch over a width of 34 inches). He finally agreed to fix it, after first denying that there was a slope by measuring the area and doing the math incorrectly (when I called him on the math, and the fact that the slope was obvious his next tactic was to admit that there was an obvious slope but he thought I wouldn't mind since I was "so cool about providing food and cold drinks for the guys doing the work.") Now that the job is "done," I notice poorly cut tile, some damaged tiles from cutting the tile, and unprofessional grout work in places. Another problem is that my dishwasher now has very little water going in during a wash cycle. What does come in doesn't drain. After taking a closer look at the plumbing, I notice that there is one hose that is bent at a ninety degree angle. There's no way water could go into or out of that particular hose. Basically, I cannot use my dishwasher until I hire someone to redo the plumbing. I have politely left messages for Jesse. He returned my phone call once and insisted that it was a problem with the dishwasher, and claimed he could phone the company for me, but will not make a trip out.
