Dennis McCormick

He is a very personable guy. My biggest thing with him is that I am a single mom with two kids and I really don't have bundles of money to give out, and I was looking for someone that I could trust and building a trusting relationship with because he was going to be here at times that I couldn't be here. I had many conversations about honest workers and what that meant. At the time that I used Dennis, I had family members that I was taking care of, so I had to have someone that I could trust to be here when I had to be with them. I thought Dennis was that person, and then it started to go south and I don't know why. He was almost like a friend to me even though he was a worker; I was leaving my key with him. Then, my kids and I started looking around and noticed that things weren't getting finished. He only put our cabinets in halfway. I don't know what happened, but he only did partial things and just left it. He put in some shelves at my mother's house and two weeks after he did the whole shelf fell down, and as I looked at the shelf, he had only put little tiny nails, not screws in it. If someone had been standing there when this shelf fell, they would have gotten really hurt, if not killed. There was water seeping through, he knocked a baring wall down, and everything had to be redone by another company. He put copper piping in but it was the wrong size, so eventually I will start seeing leaks, which I am concerned about. I paid this man to put copper piping in, and he just put something in off the street that was the wrong size so the pressure is very odd to say the least. He just left his tools and didn't show up one day. When the refrigerator was pulled out of the wall by the new company, the electrical outlet that McCormick had put in had melted into the wall and could have burnt my entire house down. The reason was that he put a wire that was too small to handle the refrigerator. He never gave me any kind of itemized bill, and I never knew what I was paying. All he would tell me was that he needed money for this and money for that and he would show me receipts, which he only did a couple times. I became reluctant, but I was trusting him at the time because I was taking care of my 2 sick family members and my children. I learned a lot from him; I definitely learned what not to do. At the time I would say his responsiveness was an A and B because any time that I needed him he was right on it, but looking back he wasn't doing the work like he should have been, so that is why I gave him a "D." I will never use him again. There were times when I wasn't here and he told me that he was hear doing work; however, there was never any signs that he was here and the work wasn't done. My neighbors never told me that he was here or anything either.
