HK Architectural Supply

We called several companies out for estimates, and we settled with HK because their estimate was the most thorough and detailed. Even though theirs was not the cheapest estimate, they seemed like they'd be the best at following up. They told us repeatedly during the process that it would take 4-6 weeks for the manufacturers to deliver the windows. HK's estimate for the windows was $33,000 and installation was another $9000. They asked for 50% of the cost of the windows upfront - $16,648. We wrote HK a check for that amount, they cashed it on 9/30/09, and we never heard from them again. After six weeks passed, we called them to follow up, and we never heard back. We called them every two weeks. While we had nice conversations with a receptionist there, we never once got a call back from our salesperson or anyone else who could give us an explanation for the non-delivery of the product. Now 12 weeks have passed, and we have yet to hear from them. In short, we paid them $16,000, never heard from them again, and not received the product we paid for. While we certainly understand manufacturer delays, there is no excuse for a company that doesn't keep its paying customers up-to-date on the status of their order or return their calls. And there certainly isn't an excuse for a company that takes a customer's money and never delivers a product.
