CTR BUILDERS

The quality of the work has been very good. However, communication with the company has been very difficult. Long delays with no word as to when work would continue. When workmen appear, they are professional, communicative and do very good work. Its management that has the problem. A little customer service training would go a long way here.

I bought all of my kitchen cabinetry from Home Depot. After much deliberation, I went with Home Depot to install the kitchen as well. CTR Builders was Home Depot's installer. CTR Builders were extremely professional and did a great job with the kitchen. I have absolutely no complaints whatsoever about CTR's quality of service. My only criticism really has more to do with the cost and the length of time it took to complete the project. Home Depot was quite expensive for the materials and labor for installation. They have a point system where they itemize every single cost, which is incredibly annoying (they even itemized a charge for removing my oven from the kitchen while the installed the cabinets before moving the oven back!). I was willing to pay the high cost through Home Depot because I thought I would be getting the best service in a timely manner. It just took forever to schedule the installations and overall the kitchen--from purchase through completion--took 3 months. From demolition to completion took 5 weeks. Overall, I would recommend CTR builders because they do great work. You just have to be incredibly patient about the completion of the process.

Overall CTR was very professional and did the work on time and within budget. I would highly recommend CTR but, watch out for these "gotchas" that affected us: Do everything through one contractor. We had ordered the kitchen countertop through another company (The Great Indoors, which then subcontracted out to another company). When the countertop came it didn't line up properly with the cabinets - there was not enough of an overhang on some sides of the countertop. We decided to leave it as is because it was too expensive to re-do and both contractors blamed each other for the fault. The countertop company blamed CTR for the cabinet installation, and CTR blamed the countertop company for mis-measuring. If it were all done through CTR this would not be a problem because it would be one company's fault and they would have nobody to blame but themselves, and we could insist that they do it the right way. Insist on quality. We had a tricky built-in-microwave installation. The first carpenter CTR sent out was not that great and did a shoddy job. We insisted that it be fixed, and then CTR sent out a second carpenter who was AWESOME! He did a top notch job on the microwave installation and it looks very professional. Also due to our ceilings not being level there was a gap between the top of the cabinets and the ceiling. This second carpenter did an amazing job cutting very thin strips of wood - thinner than I thought was possible at such an angle, to fill the gaps and caulk/putty them so you can barely notice there was even a gap. Insist that CTR set up the final appointment for the city inspection. We neglected this step and then there was a delay getting the permit.

THE WORKMEN WERE PROMPT AND WERE CONSCIENTIOUS ABOUT HOW THEY LEFT THE SITE. THERE WERE PROBLEMS WITH THE ORIGINAL WORK ESTIMATE, HOWEVER, AND THEY TRIED TO CHARGE US ADDITIONAL FEES DUE TO THEIR ERROR.

MY OVERALL EXPERIENCE WAS A GOOD ONE. I AM VERY HARD TO PLEASE WHEN IT COMES TO WORK IN MY HOME, THE COMPANY WAS punctual AND WORK WAS COMPLETED ON TIME IN A PROFESSION MANNER. I WILL GLADLY USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN.
