Great service!
Appointment was booked by phone, referral from your web site. Make and model of refrigerator was given to service rep before day of repair. Spears repairman arrived on time, confirmed in advance, several days before and also on the day of the repair. Very accurate inspection on broken refrigerator's ice maker. Also inspected entire refrigerator to see if it had any other problems.
Gave me estimate for time and materials. I agreed. Had new ice maker in his service vehicle. Installed new ice maker. Tested several times before he left my home. Explained to me that if anything else goes wrong with my refrigerator in the next 6 months or one year (not sure which?)....he will apply the money I spent today to my next bill as a credit and I just pay the difference.
I inquired about another broken appliance. He looked over this appliance. Followed up a day later to give me estimate on repairing this item at a later date.
Wonderful experience!!!!
They came out a few days after I called and technician #1 inspected the refrigerator and told me that there was no issue with the motor however he felt that it was working hard to keep the refrigerator cold due to old/worn out gaskets on the refrigerator and freezer doors. He also recommended that we replace the "closer spring" on the doors. Not wanting to damage the refrigerator, I agreed to the repairs.
It took about 3+ weeks for the parts to arrive and schedule the repair. We had to call them multiple times to follow up on the status which was disappointing. Once technician #1 finally came to install the new parts, he was personable and the job was done fairly quickly. Before he left, I reviewed the work and noticed that the doors did not seem to close fully. I pointed this out to technician #1 and he assured me that it just needed some time to get "worn in." We took him at his word.
Unfortunately the doors never closed properly after the repair. Upon further inspection, the gaskets were not lying flat and were bunched up in places. We called Spears to schedule another appointment - more waiting. Once technician #1 finally came out (for the third time), he agreed that the gasket were not installed properly or were defective. Of course that meant ordering the parts once again - more waiting.
Weeks later, we called to inquire about the status of the replacement parts and were told that they just arrived. We set up another installation date and waited. Technician #2 arrived and promptly explained that he needed to use our dryer to heat up the gasket since it was shipped in a small box and was crumpled. I obliged and left him to his work. When I checked in 15 minutes later, he explained that the parts were the wrong ones and he would have to reorder them once again. I asked him to explain and he showed me how one side was twisted and said it was glued improperly. I twisted the gasket and straightened it out and pointed out that, in fact, it was glued properly and just needed to be untwisted. He laughed at his mistake and agreed. Again, I left him to his work. Unfortunately I had to leave but another family member remained with him. When I returned, I saw that technician #2 left a note explaining that he installed one gasket and had to reorder the other one. More waiting.
We used the refrigerator and freezer in spite of the bad gaskets. We noticed that the ice maker/dispenser was now much louder than before and realized that the gasket wasn't making a tight seal and sounds could be heard where we couldn't before they started their "repairs."
Both my wife and myself called Spears and requested to speak with the owner, who is featured quite prominently on their website. We were told that he will not speak to customers. I decided to call one last time and explained my situation to the lady who answered the phone, ultimately explaining that I had to be honest about their work when writing my review on Angie's List. The owner finally called me back and was nice, accepted responsibility and apologized.
Ultimately it took two more visits before the work was completed. The refrigerator doors don't close as well as they did prior to the repairs, but I have had enough and let it go.
I will never use or recommend Spears Appliance again.

microwave to malfunction. A few days ago the very same failure
occurred. I called and told them the problem that they fixed had
reoccurred, and they sent out a repairman within a week who then
replaced the very same switch that had previously failed. He showed me
that the switch button was stuck and caused the microwave not to turn
on. When he was done, I fished out my credit card to pay for the
service call but received a pleasant surprise when he said, "No
charge". This was indication that these folks stand by their service
and don't try to milk the customer for a failed part replacement even
though it was not their fault. Kudos to the owners and especially to
the pleasant and efficient repairman.
