I?m very happy with their work. I went with them because the price was right and they were very easy to work with. They listened, they made adjustments, and they didn?t nickel and dime me on little things. Change orders were very easy to do.

The Magic Windows crew showed up early in the morning and began prepping the house for their work, moving furniture away from windows and covering items with plastic as necessary. About two hours into their work, a city inspector showed up (to inspect a previous water heater installation) and asked where my permit was for the window work. Oops! Thankfully, the inspector was cool, and didn't force installation to stop when my house was completely without windows. Installation was finished by mid-afternoon. Another visit from the city inspector showed that the bedroom windows did not meet egress requirements. The window in the master bedroom had its sill much too high and the windows in the guest room had openings that were too small. Magic Windows installers paid another visit to rectify the problem. Getting the master bedroom window to code involved cutting a much larger opening so that the sill was low enough for easy egress. The guest room only required the replacement of one slider window with a casement window that provided a much larger opening. Installation was again completed by mid-afternoon. A subsequent inspection showed that the opening of the master bedroom window was too small by 1/4"! A repair to rectify this problem is pending. The A-1 Magic Windows really are beautiful. The screens don't show when the window is closed, making for a very clean appearance and their construction is top-notch. However, their design is rather fiddly, getting the disappearing screen in place can be annoying and it's prone to unlatching if you grab the window in the wrong place while opening or closing it. Also, the windows come with privacy sheers that don't provide sufficient privacy and in some of the window types (notably the up-down), you can either have the screens up, or the privacy sheers closed, but not both. (Although the sheers do function effectively as screens.) On the plus side, the windows perform the functions that I was looking for in replacement windows. They have beautified my home, they have cut down outside noise (which includes both street traffic and airport traffic) considerably and they have reduced solar heat gain significantly over my old windows. Magic Windows staff, to their credit, are unfailingly polite and responsive. It's not unusual for one of their founders to return a service call or question personally.

THEY DIDN'T GIVE US ANY DIRECTION AS TO WHAT TO TAKE DOWN OR NOT HAVE ON THE WINDOW TREATMENTS, STUFF LIKE THAT. I HAVE A COUPLE OF WINDOWS THAT HAVE PROBLEMS, AND I HAVEN'T HAD THE TIME TO CALL THEM BACK TO FIX IT.
