Riddle Appliance and TV repair was contacted to help with the warranty replacement of the rubber apron in a front loading LG washer that had developed discoloration due to mold build-up, a common problem related to the material used in early front loading LG washers. In addition, they were to replace the plastic front panel of the unit as the plastic was disintegrating inside the soap dispensing drawer.
It took several months for Riddle to get the part from LG and 2 trips out to the house before, to determine the machine make and model. Eventually the rubber apron was replaced. However, the front plastic panel that they brought to install was the incorrect type. They said they would need to re-order the panel and would come out to reinstall it when it arrived from the manufacturer. After a 6 weeks passed, we called to follow up on the replacement. They had not reordered the part and said they would need to schedule a time to come out again and get the make and model of the unit to ensure they ordered the correct part. They never came out. After several months passed they asked us to email them a picture of the front panel again which we did. Again there was no response for months.
My final email to them in April, almost 1 year after starting this repair process, is attached below:
Hi,
I'm sorry Mr. xxxx, but we closed out the work order.  We did not get any help from LG on this at all.  In fact we had to pay for the parts that where wrong cause LG took so long we could not send back.  You need to call LG for assistance

Hello, It has been nearly a year now since we first contacted you to repair defects with our LG washer. We did finally get the rubber gasket that was discolored due to mold/mildew resolved however, the cracking that has developed in the front panel is an open issue and is unresolved. To refresh your memory, you did return to our home in Seal Beach to replace the front panel. However, once on site, you discovered that the panel did not have the correct number of cycle settings printed on the panel. It was not the correct panel. You indicated that you would return once the correct panel was received. We are still waiting on this panel and the final repair.
Please provide an update on our washer repair.

Craig xxxxxxx
The repeated attempts to get the correct model of LG Washer, multiple visits to the house with incorrect parts, number of followup requests and the time out of our lives it took to deal with this would have been tolerable - unpleasant but tolerable - if the work would have finally been completed.

OK but I was quoted one price for the service and then I was charged an additional $79.00 for the call. I didn't appreciate that.

It's been a while since I used them; they have come out twice for me to do the same work in-group, and they were pretty good too. The first time they came out for my microwave, everything went out fine. The second time they came out for my oven, because the heating went out, he had to change the part, he had to get the part, and he came out and it was not the right part, there was a little miss communication right there. Generally it's a company that will come out and the technicians know what to do. The guy who came out was Jerry, The first time he came out he was mentoring somebody, and it was very good, and he got it done. The second time there was a problem, it was not really his problem, but a confusion down at the branch, where is my part and stuff like that, it was not really his problem, but once he got it down here, he ended up fixing my oven. For me it felt like a little bit of confusion, and compared to other people we have had, they are good. They knew how to do the stuff, and the quality of work was good, the mix up was the difference between the people who were back at the office. The second time around, they gave him the part and he came right out, and put my oven back together, he said he will get the part from the warehouse or whatever, and he gave me a new date to come out, and he came out, right on time, he took the oven out, he tried to put the part in and it was the wrong kind of part. Then he had to put my oven back in, so it was not him, but it was whatever had happened, The last time he was supposed to come, he called me and said to me that they had not replaced the part, and what they have done is put it back. He was very efficient once he was here; the problem was not him, its them, and he was very professional. If I had large appliance repair, I would have called Riddle. If the experience I had for the second time, had happened the first time, I may not have called them.

I called Riddle Appliance to come out to check on my dryer which had suddenly stopped working. The technician came out for the first appointment and arrived within the scheduled appointment time. He diagnosed the problem to be a blown circuit board caused by too much power at the outlet. The part was ordered for a future installation to complete the repair. In the meantime, we had the power issue corrected by an electrician and the electric company. When it was time for the technician to return, he did not show up for the appointment and I had to reschedule it which was quite annoying as I had better things to do than wait around for someone that didn't show! When the technician showed up for the second appointment, he started the repair and told me that because he didn't check something before, that the diagnosis had been wrong, meaning the board was o.k. and the control panel was bad. So back to square one, ordering another part and waiting (over the weekend of course) for the part and scheduling yet another appointment. I asked if there would be a discount on the service and he replied (get this) "No, it's like if we go to a customer's home and they are not there, we don't charge more". Don't use this company! Really poor service even by Southern California standards! They'd be out of business in other areas, but sadly, schlock quality service is all too common in these parts! Oh yes and the charge for the misdiagnosis was $89.

I found Riddle Appliance on Angie's list and called them to repair my Maytag gas dryer. The technician found what he thought was the problem, two burned out coils, and replaced them. I was not sure that was the extent of the problem (not heating), thinking the dial was not advancing and it was a separate problem. The technician thought the dial was not advancing because of the burned-out parts, but he flagged my account so that if there was additional service required I would not be charged for it. He also recommended we have a chimney sweep clean out the vent, which we did. When the dryer stopped working again a couple of weeks later the technician found another part that had stopped working and replaced it. There was no service charge the second time, even though the second technician did not know what arrangements had been made by the first one. Both technicians were prompt, one arriving the same day I called, the other arriving to suit my hectic schedule. They were both professional, left no mess, and made sure I understood what the problem was and how it was being addressed.

My nearly brand new microwave oven worked one minute, didn't work the next. I called the manufacturer's number for warranty referrals, and Riddle was one of a few that were recommended. Two of the referrals had ratings of F on both Angie's List and the Better Business Bureau site. When Riddle had NO ratings on either site, I took it as a good thing. The person taking my call was friendly and efficient. They gave me a one-hour window, and graciously agreed to call me 20-30 minutes before the tech arrived so I could stay at work as long as possible and still meet him at the door. The tech was pleasant, knowledgeable, figured out in just a few minutes what I needed. He said it might take a week for the part to come in. He then returned a few days later (less than a week), installed the part efficiently, and was gone in about 20-30 minutes. The microwave works great for the first time, every time, and I am a happy camper.

I WAITED FOR RIDDLE TO COME TO FIX MY WASHING MACHINE. I HAD MY HUSBAND TAKE MY KIDS TO SCHOOL SO I WOULD NOT MISS MY APPOINTMENT SCHEDULED BETWEEN 8 and 12. I CALLED RIDDLE AT 12:15 AND THEY TOLD ME SOMEONE FORGOT TO CALL ME TO NOTIFY ME THAT THERE WAS NO ONE IN MY AREA TO SERVICE MY WASHING MACHINE THAT DAY.
