"I called your ph # today and left you a voicemail. If you'll look at the notes on your copy of the work order receipt, which you signed, it clearly states the pre-exisitng condition of a broken seal on your skylight which allows moisture to accumulate in-between the panes of glass. Your skylight needs to be replaced since there's no way we can get in-between the pane to get rid of the moisture. The broken handle was also listed on your paperwork as pre-exisitng. As far as contacting the owner (being me) I'm simply a phone call away at 714-869-1800 I am here Monday-Saturday 8am-6pm. I would have gladly honored the Angie's List discount and I still will...I will be issuing you a check in the amount of the coupon which is thirty dollars, it will be in the mail today. I am a bit confused since you signed off on the paperwork that you were 100% satisfied as well as requesting that you wanted window cleaning service again in 6 months? We at Mr. Window Cleaner strive for 100% satisfaction, please return my call so that I may help you to better understand about your broken seal."
Worker arrived exactly on time. Initial inspection and work order form took much longer than I thought it would (30min), especially considering the job was described over the phone prior. But worker was able to evaluate independently letting me work on other projects in the mean time.
The property is a smaller condo so the worker added my multiple wardrobe closets to the job covered under the minimum charge.
I knew many of the screens needed repair, so I instructed the worker to not clean and leave off any that were damaged. Turns out every screen needed some work and we removed them all. This company doesn't build screens, but does rescreen them. Since I needed to get some rebuilt at a local hardware store anyways I didn't give the company the opportunity to bid for the re-screening.
The work took another 1.5hr (2hr total including 'set up'), which I thought was a little long considering none of the screens needed to be cleaned, but I was in no hurry and as before the worker did not need supervision.
Most of the windows look great. Some unworkable paint etc remained, but all hard water and old dirt spots are gone, even from the hard to reach windows. Exactly what I was expecting from the window cleaning with the bonus of having the wardrobes cleaned.
One issue was the worker had parked his transportation in the public area of the complex. The car was not professional looking and had a female waiting in the car for the duration of the appointment. The complex is by no means upscale, but the car and occupant definitely drew negative attention. A more professional approach would have been for the car to drop off the worker, then vacate to the local McDonalds or similar to kill time.
I wouldn't use this, or any other similar service on a regular basis. But for special one time clean ups I'd have no problem returning to this business.
"Yes, we charge extra for construction clean-up as it involved over-spray from painters, construction dust as well as window stickers on the glass of your remodel. This can generally take up to twice as much time and labor. When you called on 7/3 Michael, I immediately dispatched not one but two technicians and after completion of your project, you signed off as work 100% completely satisfied. Concerning your suspicion of my technicians and your missing vice grips, this was never brought to my attention. I'm also aware that since your house was under construction that you had over 6 various construction workers in and out of your home before and during our service to your windows. All of my technicians are bonded and not one of my technicians have been with me for less than 3 years and I would have gladly investigated your suspicion which you posted here of missing vice grips. I tried contacting you today via phone and left a voice message I will reach out to you once again later today to see what I can do to gain your repeat business as Mr. Window Cleaner prides itself on total customer satisfaction always."
Ryan arrived promptly. He wore a Mr. Cleaner Window Cleaner red polo shirt and introduced himself. I invited him in to do a count of our windows. It turned out we have more than I thought. However, the final price of $187 was very good even though the initial estimate was $149. Joe had said that was their minimum.
Based on the quality and thoroughness of Ryan's work, we think it was well worth it. Our windows are so clean they look transparent.
He brought in a vacuum cleaner to vacuum the tracks and he wiped them with rags to get out the dust and grime. He removed all the screens and washed them. Other window cleaners we have used in the past have had trouble doing that as we have an older house. I think that shows that he had experience and knew what he was doing.
When Ryan arrived, I cautioned him not to let the cat out and he was careful not to do so. We appreciate that consideration. We like that he used liquid, bio degradable soap.
They accepted our personal check and asked if we wanted a courtesy reminder in 12 months. I said yes.
We would not hesitate to hire them again and recommend them.

"Sorry that there was a miscommunication concerning your quote. When your wife [member information removed] spoke with me over the phone back in June, to obtain her estimate, the quote given her was $350-$375 and I also sent her an email to that effect. When my technician arrived and he phoned in the numbers for the quote, your wife was given a quote of $355 which was well within the over-the-phone quote. I still have my telephone worksheet as well as the copy of the original email. I will send all these to you today. We look forward to providing you excellent service in the future. If there is anything I can do for you, just let me know as I am available Monday-Saturday from 8am-6pm via phone or email."
"Hi [member name removed], This is the first I've heard of your dissatisfaction in the four years that you have used our company. As you know, all my technicians do a walk-through with each and every customer before leaving to ensure satisfaction. Did you not do a walk-through with your techs? I am always accessible via telephone Monday-Saturday 8am-6pm and after-hours via email. In the future, do not hesitate to contact me, as customer service is our number one priority here at Mr. Window Cleaner. However, I will reach out to you today to get all the details as I would like to know why you felt that your last service was not up to par."
He told me his technicians get paid based on how much revenue they bring in and that his Friday guys had already been paid - hence to refund me my money I would be 'taking money out of their pockets'. When I told Joe that he could take it out of his own pocket if my business was important to him he just laughed and said 'well, you can look at it like that if you want'. I told him how he ran his business was irrelevant to me; that, as a consumer, my experience with his company was what he should be focused on, not how difficult the paperwork would be to refund me a measly $30. Joe told me that would be like going back to a store and trying to use a coupon after the fact. Interestingly Joe - THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HOME DEPOT WOULD DO: honor my expectations as a customer because they know how hard it is to find and retain good customers these days.
I'm a good customer Joe - one that would have sent a couple thousand dollars a year to your balance sheet. Now I'm going elsewhere because your business model is more important to you than my happiness. From here on in, I'll go talk to Home Depot and their Red Beacon network: because I'm know those guys are obsessed with making customers happy.
PS, Joe: Does that mean that your technicians have to effectively pay you $30 every time someone uses a coupon? If they're getting paid on revenue, and that coupon equals less revenue - are you basically marketing your company and having your employees pay you for it? Kinda sounds like it to me.
"There's obviously a miscommunication here Jason. Perhaps you were having a rough day yesterday, I understand. As I tried to explain to you over the phone yesterday, when you prepaid for your window cleaning service on 11-12-2013 (due to the fact that you could not meet with my technicians onsite) your Angie's List discount was already applied and deducted. Obviously I can't give the Angie's List discount twice on the same job. My offer still stands, you may use the printed Angie's List discount again on your next service even if the discount has expired. We pride ourselves on customer service here at Mr. Window Cleaner, which is the reason you chose our company to begin with. We hope to see you back again soon."
