I recently received this Antique Simplex Time clock. It has been in my family for many years, since I was a teenager. I believe the clock was built in the 1930's or 1940's. It was the business time clock for the family business that my grandfather, my dad, and my uncle owned and operated. I don't recall it ever having been oiled or cleaned in all the years it was hanging on my parents wall. When I brought it home during the summer, I had no idea whom I should call to restore and clean the clock workings. I made a few phone calls to the local antiques stores and Mr. Rhymer's name came up several times. The clock is a family heirloom and I was nervous to have someone working on it that didn't know what they were doing. He came highly recommended by the antiques store owners. I am happy to say that they were right! Mr. Rymer came to my home and picked up the clock, he said he would call in a few days to tell me what he found and needed to do to get the clock working correctly. He did call, explained that the bushings needed to be replaced and the workings cleaned and oiled and quoted me a price. I believe the price to be very fair. It has been about 3 weeks and I now have the clock back. It looks and runs great! He explained all the details of the clock works to me and showed me how to make adjustments. We talked about where to put the clock, and to make sure it is level and straight so that the pendulum hangs properly and the arch is correct. I don't know if I will remember all the details, and said so, but Mr. Rymer assured me to just call if I have any questions or problems. The clock will need to be oiled again in a few years and I will definitely call him to do the maintenance. He did an excellent job and I am a very pleased customer.
Description of Work: Cleaned, replaced bushings in antique Simplex Time clock. Now it keeps time beautifully.
