Mark came out and made a very good first impression and then started to check on the lights.
He checked all the parking lights, switches, timers, photo cells and junction points for the light configuration. He got on a scissor lift and checked all 16 individual lights. He spent a day just checking the lights at no charge.
I was informed after a detailed inspection that the install was wrong and not to code. The previous electrician really made a mess of everything. Wrong type of light, Wire, Conduit, Contact Switches, Photo Cells, ETC....... I was really upset and Mark eased my anger by recommending a solution.
He told me that the entire parking lot lighting array would have to be redone to assure safety and code requirements. This meant removing all the pole lights, Wiring, and conduits. Replacing with a whole new lighting system. He also told me the price to make everything right and it was not cheap but I knew it would be done right and with professionalism.
It took Mega Electric 2 weeks to finish the job and was well worth it because the outdoor lights are beautiful and correct. I also got a guarantee and maintenance agreement for 5 years. WOW!
Mark did so well at my business, I decided to have him completely redo all the electrical in my home. My home was made with aluminum wire and knew it was not a good thing. Mega Electric replaced my 100A panel with a 200A service panel and rewired the entire house. He removed every bit of aluminum wire and replaced with new copper wiring. He also replaced all the receptacles and switches. Adding new plugs where I needed them and new circuits that required dedicated power. My house lights do not flicker anymore and I have more than enough electrical outlets. I can finally feel safe in my home not worrying about electrical hazards.
In conclusion to my association with Mega Electric, I consider Mark to be most knowledgeable and professional.
At the end of the job, I felt Mark was nickel-and-diming me on some floodlights which I felt he should have thrown in for free.
After Mark left, I had to remove some old conduits and nipples which HE could have taken care of. I also had to re-route a TV cable which he had moved and routed over his newly-installed conduits.
Overall, my experience with Meg Electric was poor. Mark's problem may be that he works alone and does not have a second set of eyes to catch mistakes. In the meantime, he pockets the full price of the job. (Almost $1500 for less than 8 hours work was not reasonable.) In the future, Mark should avoid residential work and stick to industrial jobs where aesthetics do not matter and where he can be supervised.
"Mega Electric was on time to a residential service call inquiring about patio lights. The customer explained to Mark what kind of lights he wanted, how many and where he wanted them. Mark agreed with the customer and presented him with a plan for the new lights and a work order explaining the cost and time needed to complete the job. Which the customer signed without hesitation. (No mention about the cost). Mark then installed the lights while the customer watched like a hawk, sipping ice tea, and sitting in a chair making comments on installation and procedure that was not conducive to professional electrical work. Mark had to stop working several times and explain to the customer why his method would not work, taking time and concentration away from the job at hand. Customers words verbatim: "Mark's workmanship was very good" - "He reamed off the burrs on every conduit that he cut in order to eliminate sharp edges INSIDE the conduit. This step demonstrates quality of work and attention to detail". Nickel-and-diming was not a factor and was impossible due to the fact the customer signed a work order price that never changed. The old conduits and nipples was not part of the job and was not on the contract to be removed. They were not even in the area where Mark was working. In response to the TV cable: The conduits were slid under the TV cables to avoid being smashed by the weight of the conduit. Overall, Mega Electric did a professional job with quality workmanship and the customer did not file a complaint or attempt to retract payment."
