Da Vinci Kitchen, Bath & Flooring

10/5/2015 I used Da Vinci through this Fountain Valley office. I've owned my home for over 40 years and have done extensive remodeling over the years. This is the worst experience I have ever had with any contractor or remodeling job. Most of the workers did a pretty good job and my serious complaints are not about them or the quality of the final product. But working with Mona at the home office was a complete nightmare! She couldn't get anything right. I ended up doing a LOT of the leg work myself, paying for things I never expected to pay for and there were many, many delays while correcting the many mistakes. I am 83 years old and am taking care of my 90 year old frail husband. I wanted to be able to give the instructions for what I wanted, get an accurate bid and have the project done with minimal involvement after that. Here's what I had to find and also purchase myself: the three door medicine cabinet, the light for over the cabinet, the sink faucet, the shower fixtures/faucets, the toilet itself, the new window, the shutters, the ceiling light and the paint. I was reimbursed for the vanity and over the toilet cabinet I also purchased but not for the others. After explaining everything I wanted done to Mona, which she wrote down, I just assumed these items were all included in the bid for $18,000. Too late I discovered none of the above were included. I hired them to remodel a small bathroom (7' x 11'). I was told the job would take 2 - 3 weeks. Three months and countless headaches later it was finally done. Along with the other "misunderstandings about the bid, the tile bid was also incorrect. She completely left off trim work we had discussed in detail. Then somehow the color of paint I had chosen was totally mixed up. I chose and left her a sample of light blue paint and came home to find my bathroom was painted black! The day the vanity cabinet was to be installed the workers arrived with a cabinet that looked nothing like the one I had chosen. I had given her a picture of the exact cabinet I wanted. My daughter and I spent a long, hot, miserable day out shopping for the correct cabinet as she said that cabinet in that size couldn't be found. So she sent over something entirely different with no advance notice. Well I was able to find it! Then I had to wait until the workers could be rescheduled.... another delay. The glass company and workers she sent were unprepared and seemed incompetent. They had to come out 4 separate times with long delays in between. They arrived not even knowing now how many closets they needed mirrored doors for and brought the wrong number. The next time they came they didn't have the tools needed for part of the job. The next time they didn't have the correct glass for the shower and then didn't have the correct parts for installing the glass shower enclosure.... etc. Most outrageous of all, when I called to explain the errors and mistakes as they occurred, she just yelled at me and always blamed someone else. I could write a book about all the things that went wrong! My adult children had to take time off work and fly in from out of state to help me at various times because the stress was just too much for me and my husband. I don't know how this company can stay in business. Shop somewhere else!
