The owner of the business came out to my house to evaluate the plumbing problems and give me an estimate. We needed to move in immediately, and we couldn't use the water until the main was fixed. After reviewing the problems, the owner did not get back to me. I had to call multiple times over a number of days and finally the phone person said that they were declining the job. I honestly believe that he was somewhat bothered by me buying a hot water heater from Home Depot rather than from North Coast.
Another plumber came and did all the work, and we ended up paying around $1500 for all. I can't speak to the quality of North Coast's work (or prices), but it seemed to me that a plumber that picks and chooses what job they might want to take is not a good plumber to have. A homeowner has no choice of what goes wrong. The other plumber seemed happy to have the work.
"[member name removed] came into our shop, located just a few blocks from his new house. The owner of North Coast Plumbing & Heating spoke to him and then said he would be happy to come right up and look at the work that [member name removed] needed, he spent some time at the residence looking at the issues and giving his advise. [member name removed] called the shop again several days later and the owner, Cas Smith, again met him at the house. It was during this second visit that [member name removed] said that he didn't have much to spend, would purchase the materials himself and wanted to do the work as well. Cas gave him an assessment and advice after visiting the house on two occasions. We would have been delighted to have [member name removed] as a customer, and indeed thought that that's what he wanted also. We have been here 37 years and pride ourselves on customer service. This is why the owner himself made two visits to [member name removed] residence, he is a member of our community and our neighbor, not just a potential customer. Every customer is important, and every potential customer as well."
