Overall, I am pleased with the result. The pool looks very nice and all the equipment seems to be working fine. The project did take a bit longer than expected. Ground was broke in mid February and it is now the end of April and we just this week have all the equipment up and working properly. I could be swimming this week were it not for the cold weather and rain. But, it will be ready for the summer season. As we are not totally established in West Sac. and I am still working out of town, I was not available at times for inspections required by the city. I did not understand that the home owner had to be present and this was not made clear at the beginning of the project. This did cause one delay. Instillation of a supply line for the auto fill valve was changed for no apparent reason. They wound up running a line totally around my home to the hose bib on the front of my home when the city supply comes into the back of the house, only about 10 ft. from the auto fill valve. The line they ran around the house is only about 6 inches below ground level and I can see it being a problem in the future. It was already hit and repaired by another crew putting in an RV pad and working only 6 to 8 inches below ground level. The pad poured for the pump and equipment is too narrow to support the pipes to the solar panels on the roof and one is propped up on the dirt. A project of this size and expense should have a walk through with an official or owner of the company at the end of the project but I am not aware of any planned.
The fact that Mr Evans made repairs, without charges, three years after installing our pool is most amazing!
If one is considering installation of such a swimming pool, plan ahead! Talk to several companies and especially their customers, current and past. Be sure to have a detailed contract that includes a schedule of tasks to be performed, when payments are due, when the inspectors will come, and what one's own responsibilities are, for example, that one is responsible for sweeping the pool while the plaster cures for 10+ days.
Be aware that heavy duty equipment, backhoes, etc. will be coming into the area. Any landscaping, plants, garden, etc. will be leveled and part of the fence must be removed for the heavy equipment. It will be dusty for the duration. Subsequently, the homeowner will be responsible for replacing the fence in order to pass the last inspection. The City of Roseville has specific rules about keeping the streets undamaged by construction equipment and any residue of materials used in the construction. Be sure the contractor is aware of such local rules.
We had decided that we wanted to have the construction start in late August, but do to the fault of the city and the issuance of the permits, we were not able to actually dig until mid September. The mornig of the dig, I got a surprise call that an addendum would need ot be made so that my pool would have a raised bond beam and that it would cost me a little bit extra. I decided to go ahead wtih the cost. The pool was finally dug and it was looking great! Next came the re-bar and plumbing. Those things went off without a hitch. After the re-bar and plumbing came the electrical and the gunite. The pool was really starting to take shape and look fantastic. Finally the concrete needed to be done, and after about 3 full days the concrete was done and it looks great. The plastering was done about a week later and that same day, water was already in the pool. Overall, there were some times that Richard and I argued a bit over the construction, but I am happy to report that we are still friends and he did an absolute beatiful job on the pool! I would recommend this company to anyone that is interested in buying a pool.
