we soon discovered Abbots Thrift in Felton. The woman at the register was named Joanna, and she was my first 'friend.' She was warm, and personable, and very professional.
It wasn't long before Abbots was a daily stop.
I am a slow and careful shopper; not only is this a meditative practice, it also affords me the opportunity to listen to what is going on about me. EVERY time I have shopped at Abbots while Joanna is at the front, I hear only support and affirmation and laughter from her to EACH AND EVERY customer. This is extraordinary, and truly defines what expert customer service is all about. It doesn't matter who you are, what you look like, or how old you are ( she is especially kind and gentle with the children) Joanna is there for
you, to uplift and brighten your day, after having gone over what fabulous purchases you made ( And at Abbots, they're all fabulous!) It is a sad reality that most people don't like their jobs. Particularly in the customer service fields, where we, the customers, are snubbed or ignored or met with aloofness if we are last minute shoppers, buy 'too much' or are considered 'high maintenance.' My esteem and admiration go to Joanna, for never engaging in these behaviors, even when she must sometimes want to. Joanna is what makes Abbots Thrift, where you truly get something priceless: heart.
