James is one of the few piano technicians who is willing to use unorthodox temperaments (rather than equal temperament) to tune a piano. I am a string player, and equal temperament piano tuning sounds lousy against the perfect fifths of string players. James is willing to use Coleman temperaments that sound better than standard ones with string players. He even gives me a choice of these temperaments. Most piano tuners look at me blankly when I ask about special tuning techniques. And my piano stays in tune for many months once James has worked on it.

He is very competent, we have used him for 15 years. He is very nice and does a great job.

He returned my call the same day and was even able to come the next day for tuning. He was very punctual and professional. It was a little odd that he didn't think much about some noisy keys around middle C. I can hear it when I play softly.
