Charlie went out on Friday night to look at it. His assessment was that the entire home had to be rewired and 2 new electrical panels installed, at a cost of $7,600. I called him and asked how could a request for one faulty breaker turn into a complete re-wire of the house. He said that the home had a number of code violations at the 2 electrical panels. He said it was really bad. Upon further questioning he said that I could get away with just replacing the 2 panels and that rewiring the home was not absolutely necessary. I later had another electrician come out. It turns out the wire for the dryer was not screwed into the circuit breaker very well. All that was need was to tighten a screw. That cost me $80 for a service call. Later I had another electrician look at the two panels. Turns out there was some double lugging in the main panel, which was repaired for $137. No panel replacements needed. I feel Charlie was dishonest and blowing the problem out of proportion. He was bidding an lot more work than was necessary.
Description of Work: I called them to troubleshoot a circuit for a clothes dryer that kept tripping at my rental property.
