"I am not knowledgeable in this area. Thatâ s why I had to go looking for somebody who is. I did not have to wait for them to return my phone call and that is important when something has gone wrong with the pump. Alex analyzed the problem promptly and was able to fix a few things that were the cause of the problem. He determined that the pump was still working but that much smaller corrections needed to be made. It was fixed and completely corrected and I could not be happier. The cost was small given where I thought I was going to have to go before I talked with Alex. Marshall"

Wells and Pumps questions, answered by experts

Several warning signs can indicate current or future issues with your well pressure tank. If you notice inconsistent water pressure, water spitting from your faucets, clicking sounds, or electricity bill spikes without other obvious causes, it may be time to get your pressure tank and well system looked at by a professional.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends testing your well at least once a year to check for bacteria and contaminants. If you live in an area prone to flooding, runoff, or any other environmental concerns, it can be a good idea to check two to three times per year.

Yes, it is possible to drill a well by hand, but it calls for a good deal of physical labor. Drilling a well by hand is best suited for softer soil, and it may not be possible through rockier terrain. For wider and deeper holes, companies with professional equipment make the job much easier.

Schedule annual inspections, monitor water pressure, and address minor issues promptly to avoid major repairs.

If you have a small well or a particularly high water demand, it’s possible to overuse your well. How quickly a well replenishes depends on its water source. In this case, you may want to purchase a water storage tank that you can fill from the well in off-hours, or if you’re planning to build a new well and you expect a large water demand, you may want to build a deeper well to match your needs.
