FRED'S BODY SHOP

We went by for an estimate, and that was done very professional and courteous. They were a preferred provider by our insurance company, so we set up an appointment for a few weeks later, as the vehicle was driveable and not a safety issue. When the time came for us to take the car in, we had a problem as our second vehicle was broke down. So we contacted Fred's Body shop and they said it is no problem, that they would bring me or my wife back to our house or work if needed. so we used that service as we also live about 20+ miles away from their shop. The next day the vehicle was supposed to be done. we called in the afternoon to check status, they stated it was on track and would be completed by 5:30pm. I advised them that we are still down all of our vehicles and would need their delivery service, and the agreed with no problem. so later that afternoon the knocked on the door an hour earlier that they had told me. we were pleased because my wife would be able to make a meeting she thought she would have to miss. and we did not have to drive them back as they brought out a separate person and vehicle to return in.
Upon inspection of the work, we found that not only did the replace the bumper to like new condition, they had detailed the car inside and out. it almost smelled like a new car again. they even got down and cleaned out the wheel spokes very well , the car just gleaned with shine. My wife was thrilled to death. it made up for not having her car for two days.

Insurance covered all but the deductible. They were fast and did a good job.

This is the 2nd time I have used Fred's body shop. The work was performed well and in a reasonable amount of time. The repairs are guaranteed for as long as you own the car. The staff is very nice and responsive to your concerns.

These guys are the best in Humboldt County, by far. However, you have to also pay to get the best -- these guys are not cheap!
Luckily, the repair on my 2011 Explorer was under an insurance claim, so I only had the cost of my deductible, and that amount is the same no matter who I took the vehicle to have repaired. Since these guys are the best and they are part of the GEICO preferred repair locations, I had them perform the repair.
The vehicle came back same as new. Very high quality work; they used all new parts; everything came back perfect. They even advocated for me when they discovered an additionally damaged part that was hidden during the first adjuster inspection. They requested the adjuster to return a second time and pushed to have the insurance cover for a new part rather than try to repair the existing part (it was a mechanical part for steering and they advocated for the safety of using a new part).
It took a little while to get it done (approximately two weeks), but it was well worth the wait. It was reassuring to get back into my vehicle exactly as it had been prior to the accident. It is worth noting that some of the time delay was for them to coordinate with adjuster to push for a new replacement part. I did not feel at anytime that my vehicle repair had been delayed or given proper attention. Quite the contrary; they were very responsive and it seemed that they maintained consistent priority on my repair. They are just very busy because they are the best and they do not cut corners. I felt the time period was still fair for the value.
If you are looking for a quick fix or a repair on the cheap, this might not be the place for you. However, if your repair is covered under insurance and/or you are looking for a high quality repair and willing to pay for the value and wait a fair amount of time, there is no better place in the area to use. You will feel confident before, during and after, that your vehicle is in good hands.
