They took a long time without any idea when they would work on it as they had other jobs to shuffle. Randy, the owner, is courteous and flexible but did not know when they would finish or when he could work on it. As he was in progress, the city came and complained about the location and visibility with the alley. Although the fence company had on their contract that they were not responsible for issues with the city, they could have warned me as I was new to the area. The city has no permit requirement but clear access requirements for allies and corners. I did check with the city beforehand and they said there were not any problems with the fence so it is understandable Randy's wish to not be involved as the city itself seems not to know the rules and they are variable about enforcement. Randy did accomodate a change in the path to allow more visibility in the alley. The gate type was changed without notifying me from private panels with metal to wood but I was too tired of dealing with it to complain at that point.
