I made a thorough study of the pros and cons of the micro inverter in comparison to central inverter systems and concluded that the micro inverter technology offered by Palomar offers the most stability and longevity to the individual property owner. I would be very surprised if it doesn't turn out to be the dominant technology not too far down the road. In fact, it was the use of the micro inverter technology that tipped my decision process toward Palomar over another well-regarded company.
After about 6 weeks the paperwork and permits were secured by Palomar Solar and the panels were scheduled to be installed. The panels did not have to be ordered as they are in stock at the main office. On Monday the 7th of Oct. a crew of two arrived at my home to install the panels. The entire process took two days. I was surprised at the speed as I have noted that other companies took up to three weeks for an installation.
On the third day the City of Chula Vista's inspection took place and all passed with flying colors. Two days after that SDG&E informed me that the system could be turned on. As easy as pie.
The system included came with a system where each panel can be monitored for efficiency. That is done on my computer as well as the of Palomar. If a panel is going bad it will be replaced. Other systems I researched only monitored the entire system. If the production is a problem how do you know which panel is bad?
Adam Rizzo was the sales person. He was available on a 7/24 basis as the process proceeded. I have never dealt with such a sales
person.
The system is working without a hitch. In addition the panels were mounted with brackets that did not require any drilling. They merely were placed under the tiles and the panels bolted on. As a result I expect no leaks.
I reviewed other vendors and they were mostly all the same. I saw there installations and was not fond of drilling the tiles, conduit everywhere and systems not yet on line. In addition I did not have to make payment until the entire system was installed and on line. The other companies wanted 1/3 at the start followed by 1/3 in the middle and 1/3 at the end.
