Out On A Limb Tree Co. and Consulting
About us
We are a full service tree company with 1 full-time and 2 part-time employees. I am an arborist certified by the International Society of Aborculture (ISA) #WE 3277 and have worked in the tree business for over 25 years. I charge $50.00 for a consultation regarding tree or pest problems but estimates are free. We also offer a payment plan for those in need of service but having trouble making ends meet. We use a sub contractor for spraying of pesticides and injections and a sister-company for very large jobs.

I had to follow through with a phone call after the inititial estimate. That was not a big deal. I can see what other people might have complained about, but I think Brian will respond if you call and leave a message.
Overall I am happy with the job they did. Price came in under the estimate (he ends up charging by the hour, but no more than the estimate). I will use them again.
So guess what happened? That's right: I never heard from him again.
This really angered me, because I had to schlep it out to Woodland Hills to meet him -- all for naught. Not only was it unprofessional, but it was completely disrespectful of my time. I have had literally 20 Angie's List contractors come out to my house for quotes on floor refinishing, bridge reconstruction, and tree trimming. He is one of 3 people who completely wasted my time by never following up with a quote. And this wasn't some rinky-dink job not worth his cost in gas. Quotes from other trimmers were nearing $6,000!!!
I had read the reviews of the others who said he never followed up, but I made the mistake of thinking it was a one-or-two-time-only thing. I was WRONG. I get the feeling that he is semi-retired and only comes out to chat about trees but has no interest in actually doing the physical part. Don't make the same mistake I did. Heed my review unless wasting an afternoon isn't that big of a deal for you. (It is for me, since I'm extremely busy.) I would have given him an and quot;Fand quot; in Overall Experience, but I did learn some things about the trees on my lot. A such, there was a modicum of worth.
"I have no excuse, I just let this one get away from me. This client was very nice to me and did give a second call and I still fouled it up . Her criticisms are completely justified. With Regrets, Brian Barnett"
Once we hired them for the job, he showed up with a couple young helpers, one of them his son. They made short work of it, roots and all. We've still got 7 trees, so at some point we're bound to call them again. I don't mind trimming suckers or pruning on smaller trees. But the big trees are way too tall for me and my ladder.
Report by Lee.
Brian was pleasant to talk to and seemed to appreciate my extensive garden. I was in the midst of clearing out a neighbor's home who had recently passed away and Brian inquired about, then helped himself (with my permission) to a handful of small scissors, a variety of clay pots, as well as a large/heavy workbench vise clamp from the garage.
Brian had taken lots of notes, stated he would provide an estimate within a few days and we said our goodbyes. To this day, I have never heard back from him and because the trees needed to be trimmed soon - before exterior of house could be painted, I hired someone else to do the job and am pleased with the results.
"I am very sorry for this one and if I had been more diligent at looking at my Angies List account I might have been able to fix this situation. In this particular case the fault was that I did not have a back-up system for my clients during that week and my truck was broken into while shopping at a Ralph's in Reseda wherein my briefcase was stolen along with several of my tree diagnostic books. All my client information for that week was in there as I had yet to transfer it to my office PC. I did not remember the names of all whom I had seen that week but I did remember the scissors and I thought of the very nice lady who had given them to me every time I used them albeit with a twinge of guilt and regret. I will be contacting her shortly to apologise. With Regrets, Brian"
