About us

We are a full service tree company with 1 full-time and 2 part-time employees. I am an arborist certified by the International Society of Aborculture (ISA) #WE 3277 and have worked in the tree business for over 25 years. I charge $50.00 for a consultation regarding tree or pest problems but estimates are free. We also offer a payment plan for those in need of service but having trouble making ends meet. We use a sub contractor for spraying of pesticides and injections and a sister-company for very large jobs.

Amazingly well.  The tree had been badly topped years before we bought our house and got more and more unbalanced and sick. Brian and his crew worked with me around my schedule, made sure everyone worked safely and efficiently, and the results are beautiful.  There was a hidden problem with the truck (that was not apparent in the initial survey), that Brian took care of and insisted, despite it taking extra time, doing it for the originally agreed price.  I couldn't have wished for a better experience.

Brian sometimes has kinks in his schedule, i.e., on occasion he might underestimate the time he'll be on another job, and might have to get to us later in the day or the next day.  But that's never a problem for us.  He stays in close touch, and we're flexible.

He was personable and seemed intelligent. He was able and willing to communicate. The things we did not like was he was not able to help us as much as we thought he would and he failed to get back with us.

Brian was great. He spoke to us in detail about what tools we needed to have to properly trim dead branches. He taught us how to drill in to our poor tree and shoot in the termiticide. He was very thorough and knowledgable.

Brian and his team are neat, efficient, curteous and very proffesional. They come in, get the job done and really care about what they are doing. They hauled away all limbs/shrubs/mess and left me with an amazing result. Brain is very easy to work with, returns calls quickly and does a wonderful job.

They did a good job trimming and shaping the trees. They cleaned up throuroughly after they finished. Brian sent a detailed report with photographs after the job, and recommended a pest control person to deal with a bug issues with my trees. I recommend you use a certified arborist if you have large trees. Other trimmers may not do a proper job.
I had to follow through with a phone call after the inititial estimate. That was not a big deal. I can see what other people might have complained about, but I think Brian will respond if you call and leave a message.
Overall I am happy with the job they did. Price came in under the estimate (he ends up charging by the hour, but no more than the estimate). I will use them again.

I could literally copy and paste another reviewer's experience here, because the exact same thing happened to me: I called Brian to come out and give me a quote to trim the towering trees on the property of the new house I just bought in Woodland Hills, including 8 eucalyptus trees, 2 jacarandas, a palm, 3 California peppers, and more. We made an appointment and I drove out to the house to meet him (I wasn't living there yet). We walked the grounds of my 20,000 sq ft lot, and, as others have pointed out, he seemed very knowledgeable not only in species identification but also in the specifics of how and where to cut limbs. When we were finished, Brian said he would provide me with a quote. I was thinking, and quot;Yep, this is the guy.and quot;

So guess what happened? That's right: I never heard from him again.

This really angered me, because I had to schlep it out to Woodland Hills to meet him -- all for naught. Not only was it unprofessional, but it was completely disrespectful of my time. I have had literally 20 Angie's List contractors come out to my house for quotes on floor refinishing, bridge reconstruction, and tree trimming. He is one of 3 people who completely wasted my time by never following up with a quote. And this wasn't some rinky-dink job not worth his cost in gas. Quotes from other trimmers were nearing $6,000!!!

I had read the reviews of the others who said he never followed up, but I made the mistake of thinking it was a one-or-two-time-only thing. I was WRONG. I get the feeling that he is semi-retired and only comes out to chat about trees but has no interest in actually doing the physical part. Don't make the same mistake I did. Heed my review unless wasting an afternoon isn't that big of a deal for you. (It is for me, since I'm extremely busy.) I would have given him an and quot;Fand quot; in Overall Experience, but I did learn some things about the trees on my lot. A such, there was a modicum of worth.

Brian came out to determine whether or not some palm trees we have were diseased. He is extremely knowledgeable and professional. I also appreciate his honesty - he told me that we should be able to remove them ourselves and explained exactly how to do that instead of paying to have them professionally removed, which would have been extremely costly. He also provided some excellent suggestions for front yard shade trees and gave detailed instructions on what size to purchase and how to plant them.

Brian was very pleasant to deal with. Work was carried out exactly in line with estimate. Tree looks great. No surrounding plant damage and cleanup was thorough.

The guy's name was Brian. I found him on Angie's List. He came out to my house and told me what work he thought I needed to have done. I asked him for an estimate and he never followed up. I remember reading a couple of criticisms about him on Angie's List. I guess I had the same experience. It is too bad because he did sound really really knowledgeable. I even called him a week after he came out and asked him if he was going to give me an estimate and that I would be interested in hiring him. He just told me that he had to get on that and he still has not responded. I don't know what his problem is. I feel bad because he was a very nice guy. He came out to my house for free. He was not reliable with following up with an estimate even after I called him a week later to ask him for the estimate. He sounded very knowledgeable. I was interested in having him do the work, but without an estimate I couldn't hire him. He did get to my house within a couple of days, but he did not follow up with the estimate. His punctuality was fine. He showed up very quickly. He was very nice when he was there.

"I have no excuse, I just let this one get away from me. This client was very nice to me and did give a second call and I still fouled it up . Her criticisms are completely justified. With Regrets, Brian Barnett"

Brian was responsive, personable, on time, and professional. He worked well with our tenant and his schedule. He was conservative in his recommendations and his prices were very reasonable - relative to other quotes solicited. I really liked Brian as a person and was pleased that he wrote us a nice, hand written note upon completion that accompanied our invoice. This is the company to call.

Brian gave us a good price to remove an old fig tree that needed to go. He seemed to know his subject matter quite well, and was good to work with. Identified for us, and gave us some good info on a couple other extra large trees in our new to us yard. That was important to me as well as the removal job.

Once we hired them for the job, he showed up with a couple young helpers, one of them his son. They made short work of it, roots and all. We've still got 7 trees, so at some point we're bound to call them again. I don't mind trimming suckers or pruning on smaller trees. But the big trees are way too tall for me and my ladder.

I called and spoke with Brian and we arranged a day/time to meet. Brian showed up on time and I showed him the various trees that needed to be attended to on two properties - including a tall overgrown grapefruit tree, tangerine tree, trim neighbor's ficus back to property line, remove/replace dead peach tree, trim apricot + Jacaranda trees.

Brian was pleasant to talk to and seemed to appreciate my extensive garden. I was in the midst of clearing out a neighbor's home who had recently passed away and Brian inquired about, then helped himself (with my permission) to a handful of small scissors, a variety of clay pots, as well as a large/heavy workbench vise clamp from the garage.

Brian had taken lots of notes, stated he would provide an estimate within a few days and we said our goodbyes. To this day, I have never heard back from him and because the trees needed to be trimmed soon - before exterior of house could be painted, I hired someone else to do the job and am pleased with the results.

"I am very sorry for this one and if I had been more diligent at looking at my Angies List account I might have been able to fix this situation. In this particular case the fault was that I did not have a back-up system for my clients during that week and my truck was broken into while shopping at a Ralph's in Reseda wherein my briefcase was stolen along with several of my tree diagnostic books. All my client information for that week was in there as I had yet to transfer it to my office PC. I did not remember the names of all whom I had seen that week but I did remember the scissors and I thought of the very nice lady who had given them to me every time I used them albeit with a twinge of guilt and regret. I will be contacting her shortly to apologise. With Regrets, Brian"

The work was done very carefully and to my satisfaction. I asked Brian to try to avoid damaging a nearby plant when he took the tree down, and he did that for me. After looking at the tree, Brian offered to cut the tree into firewood if I could use it and I appreciated him making this offer. Overall, I thought the price was very fair. The responses were a bit slow at time, but nothing too extreme.

Terrific guy, Brian is! He clearly explained over the phone what he planned to do and what the cost of the service covered. He showed up with his two men crew and went to work immediatly. We were surprised to know he was able to communicate with us in ASL (American Sign Language). It was done under an hour as expected and its quality of performance and service were excellent.

They were very safe with what they did. They were up in the trees all day and seemed to know what they were doing. It was very clear that they knew how to handle the apparatus. They were willing to work with me and respected what I was telling them I wanted done. I have one tree that hangs over the yard and they took the deadwood off and put the bonsai thing on it. It ended up costing a bit more than their original bid but that wasn't a problem for the amount of work that they did. I will be using them again in two years.

Brian was punctual, and complete in his estimate for pruning our Bradford Pear tree. We solicited multiple bids and decided on Brian and requested a formal quote. Brian emailed that he needed to price materials and that rain was affecting scheduling. However, it has been almost three weeks and I have yet to receive a reply despite my leaving a subsequent phone message and an email. PLEASE understand this rating has NOTHING to do with the quality of Brian's company's work, which appears to be stellar from others who have commented on Angie's List. But we needed to get this work done, and therefore chose another contractor who came out the next day to perform the work.

The owner responded to my phone inquiry on the same day I called and arranged to come out the following week to inspect and trim my trees. He and his crew arrived on time, were very courteous and professional, and did a beautiful job trimming my two trees. Unlike other trees in the neighborhood, they performed an artistic trim so that the trees did not look "butchered". They simply looked smaller, and were no longer creeping over my roofline. They also blew out my gutters free of charge, and cleaned up all the debris afterwards. A beautiful and artistic job, and very reasonably priced!

The team was professional, courteous and timely. They utilized hand powered tools for all but the largest branches, saying this allowed them superior control of the process. The gorgeous results attest to that! These guys are the best!

Brian, his son and two assistants were excellent. Brian really knows trees and gave me lots of information and explained the types, condition and treatment of all the work he did. The biggest job turned out to be trimming back the honey-suckle hedge because it had overgrown the utility wires coming from the electrical and telephone poles. Brian was not happy with the results because he would have cut the hedge much farther down, but my husband and I were very pleased because we had wanted it higher. Brian's company is aptly named because he actually did crawl out on a limb of the pear tree and cut back all the disease that he described as fireblight. One of the coolest things was he sent us a receipt complete with before and after photos of his work.
