I got Melvin's name from the Glendale Community College listserv and e-mailed him about my problem -- could not get online (I had contacted my ISP and ruled out their end & my modem was working fine); Melvin responded within an hour or so, and after describing my problem, we set a date; this was July 4th weekend and he was able to come that Sunday evening (and he arrived early, but called first). He charges a flat rate and I feel I really got my money's worth: he dumped my firewall and installed new security software, dumped a lot of programs I didn't need (and didn't know I had!) and installed the MS Office Suite that had been sitting on top of my cpu for a year or so... about 90 minutes of service; he has a full time job as a tech support engineer but helps out private parties on the side. Very personable young man.
Description of Work: I was unable to get online from my home computer and Melvin not only fixed that problem, but cleaned up my computer and installed new security software (the problem was my firewall which has acted up before).
