Previously, provided by a different party, we had an energy audit done on our house that resulted in recommendations for a new heater, air conditioner, duct work, insulation, and some other things. I contacted VESI to make an appointment to come to our house to prepare a bid for the upgrade project. I had to call back a few days later as my call was not returned. Vicki Wright apologized for the delay and said she had been away. We scheduled Mike Wright to come to the house. He came on time and spent a good deal of time carefully looking at the property, assessing and discussing options with me, and demonstrated that he had read the energy auditor's report before he came. He asked if I could wait until the "end of next week" for the estimate. While I was waiting for the estimate I checked the California State License Board web site and found that the licensed contractor for VESI had terminated his relationship with the business at the end of the previous year. The time the licensing board allowed was nearly up for VESI to have a licensed contractor to associate with their business. Toward the end of the week when the estimate was promised I sent an email to Mike asking for references along with the estimate and questioned the status of associating with a new contractor. I did not want to contract with a company whose license may lapse. I never received an estimate, a reply to my question about a licensed contractor or a courtesy correspondence or phone call stating that they had decided not to provide an estimate
The California State License Board web site reflects that they associated with a licensed contractor in July 2013.
