Seemingly, it was to go well. Randy was pleasant while on the job site. He was paid $400 and I was told everything was good to go for the tiler to come in and set the tile (just as is standard practice, and necessary, with this type of job that he was doing). The problems did not surface until later when it was realized that (a) Randy did not set the valve in correctly so that ultimately the valve came out of the wall crooked (which meant crooked shower water faucet handle) and at this time I have no idea what else the problem implies; (b) Randy did not come over to verify the problem with the valve and wrongfully accused the tiler; and (c) Randy did not return to the job site to install the trim/finish pieces as per the job description and what he was already paid for. I am seeking redress in court for these problems, and via email with me Randy also voiced to me (a female Marine, former Cobra pilot) that I, as a woman, "should not be doing a MANS job." (That's his grammatical mistake, too, with the word "man"). Overall I describe Randy as lacking in professionalism and having what I might call female issues. Seemingly, to me, it is also clear that he is bitter toward his ex-wife and takes it out on other women, and any woman doing business with him will bear the bitterness in some fashion. I do not think he had any business treating me the way that he did, making remarks as he did especially in this day and age.

The project did not go well at all. First, the plumber (Randy Withrich, the owner of the business) failed to put any waterproof barrier between the pipes and flooring and cabinetry per the chance any water (clean or dirty water) were to drain out upon these surfaces. This caused very dirty water to soak into my cabinetry as when he removed a substantive pipe dirty water came pouring out. Second, Randy showed late for the job, by precisely two hours. He did send a text message saying he would be late, which was considerate, but it failed to mention any particular reason for the lateness which would have also been nice. Third, during the project Randy decided to just go home and not notify me that he would have a hard time completing the project by my deadline for the day. Instead of calling me and telling me what the situation was (as I was not on the job site with Randy)--instead of telling me what was not possible for the time (12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m., a whole 4 hours) and giving me the chance to permit him to stay longer in my home--Randy just decided to take off having done no work but taking apart plumbing and texting me telling me to wait until next week or find someone off of Craigslist. This also is not to mention that I already had held this job for Randy, doing him a favor. Magnifying the situation when I called Randy, trying to get a hold of Randy by phone and text, he did not pick up the phone or respond to my text in a timely fashion. He still has not responded (and it has been over an hour). I have personally never seen Randy disregard a phone call, even in an extremes situation. (Texting is variable with him given my experience.) For instance, during the dirty water draining into my cabinetry rather than continue to try to clean up all the dirty water, to keep the water from seeping into the faux wood, Randy went to answer his phone call that he had gotten in the middle of the water problem. Clearly, Randy takes his phone calls with utmost importance, even when in the middle of an extreme situation where time is of the essence. And, when I called Randy to try to make direct contact with him about the project he was supposed to be on (mine!) he did not answer. Randy did not pick up the phone nor return the call from the very client for whom he presently was supped to be working for. A witness in my house was able to verify, too, that he had been gone before he texted me telling me that he was not going to be able to finish the job with the set deadline. Bottom line, Randy did not provide much courtesy to me and even while I provided him due courtesy. He demonstrated what I think is a lack of integrity by making a commitment to someone and then excusing himself from the commitment without any consideration for the client. Additionally, at no time did Randy say that there was an emergency or anything, just that he "didn't have enough time today by the set deadline to finish the job. Have a good day. Get someone from Craigslist if you cannot wait for me next week" after I had already waited for him and when he had committed to the job. That's paraphrasing it a little bit since I didn't copy to the T what he expressed via text but you can be sure that is what he said in substance and almost exactly as I remember it quite vividly. Now me and my 4-hr-old daughter still cannot cook and eat in our home for unknown more length of time due to what I think is very unprofessional behavior by Randy Withrich.
