I have a great '99 Volvo (only 117k miles) that I couldn't get through the state smog test due to the monitors not running. I don't understand it either, so don't ask! Only the DMV does. Has nothing to do with what the car is or isn't putting into the atmosphere. That's another story.
After consulting 10, yes TEN, other sources, I would up here, and they had the answer. Not the DMV, or their "referee" or the referee regional supervisor... not Volvo USA or the local Volvo dealers... not three different smog shops nor two other garages that specialize in Volvos. No one until No. 11 - Encinitas Foreign & Domestic. The most professional and courteous auto service shop I've ever encountered. I'd never been to them before, but I wont go anywhere else now!

We've used them for a long time. The price is reasonable. They are reliable and always have information about our cars. They are up to date and they give AAA 10% discounts.

In response to a diagnostic overview, several items on the ancient car needed repair.  Carlos and Jonathon were very thorough in explaining the service options--as always.

Last time I went there for a basic service and more recently my wife had her 60000 miles service that was a little more extensive.   They always have been positive. We have used for years. They are honest reliable reasonably priced and they do what they say they gone do.

Encinitas Foreign & Domestic Auto Repair appear to be really honest about their car repairs. We've had them work on a Volvo, a Honda and our Lexus. They've done the brake work. They've been very very thorough. There are no surprise punches. They will call you with estimates and they've never been off. We've never had weird things happen. They seem to be right on when they tell you what is wrong with the car. We've been with them for a couple of years now.

They did a bunch of stuff and got me some new tires at an amazing rate. I told everyone how much I paid for my tires and they couldn?t believe how cheap they were. They have good tires. They were very good and I would highly recommend them. I like them because they are certified as a green company. I needed to have my car repaired since there were a lot of leaks and I knew it was going to take a while. So they gave me an estimate for that work. The reason why I didn?t go with them to get that work done was because I needed a lot of work done and they didn?t have a loaner car. I wanted to rent a car and it took a week to have my car fixed. I found this place down in San Diego that had this quite exciting loaner car that I got it for a week. The price charged by Encinitas Foreign & Domestic Auto Repair was very good for what I got done but I thought that the estimate for the other work was okay. However, I think their work is worth the price. They definitely weren?t the cheapest in the town. It would have cost me a lot of money to rent a car for a week and they didn?t have the cheapest rates to rent cars. They did have a car place where the daily rate was going to be about $3000. They have a wonderful driver who takes you home but I couldn?t spend a week without a car. They were very good about giving me the quote. They did the estimate for free. I wanted a second opinion since there was a lot of work that needed to be done. They are wonderful. If I have to get a small job done, then I would use their services again. However, I would use someone else if it?s a big job.

Took a little longer than expected, needed a part that wasn't available, but they kept us informed.
