Dreamscapes Landscape Design

We had decided to overhaul our huge backyard to make it an entertainment center, but we had no idea how to go about it. We went to the San Diego Home & Garden show in Spring 2008. As we wandered through the landscape designs, our eye was caught by one particular landscape that looked very much like us. We spoke to Josh, the designer, and liked his easy manner immediately. We took a few other cards but after the show decided that we would have Josh come see our backyard and see what he thought. Josh came for the free consultation and immediately saw the possibilities for our backyard. The home had formerly been a model home so it had this enormous, somewhat impratical 16 x 20 raised patio smack in the middle of the yard. We figured we would have it removed to create more usable yard. Josh suggested that instead we incorporate it into the landscape design and actually extend it to house the built-in BBQ, bar, and firepit. We were a bit skeptical but told him to go ahead with a design in that direction. Josh came back in about a week with a rough design and we loved it! It had an extended patio housing an L shaped bar/BBQ, a firepit with built in bench seating, and a place for a hot tub. The design also had flowing, freeform planters that lined the rear wall. Josh provided us with a complete list of child-safe plants to choose from and made recommendations on the stone facing on the bar and benches. We fine tuned a few things and voila, our design was complete. Josh met with our landscape contractor and walked through the plans. Everything was clearly marked on the plan and our landscape contractor (Teyo's Landscape, also reviewed on Angie's List) executed the plan perfectly. Our backyard is an amazing for entertaining and we have hosted countless parties and events, including our own wedding reception! We just bought a new house and have hired Josh for that lanscape design as well. Look for another review shortly!
