"In response to this member's post the first time the vehicle came in to the shop it was brought in for the vehicle over heating and the vehicle had 170,000 miles apporx. One year later the vehicle was brought in for and oil leak at which time the distributor housing was leaking and was repaired a few months later when the vehicle had approx 186,000 miles. The vehicle was brought in because of a burning smell at that time we informed him that the power steering hose and o-ring were leaking on to the exhaust and the power steering level was empty. We stated that the power steering line and o-ring would need to be replaced and then we would check the power steering pump to make sure that no damage had occured to the power steering pump due to the fact that he was driving the vehicle with no power steering fluid and that the power steering pump was original with over 180,000 miles. He was not charged for inspecting the vehicle but was upset that he was having issues with the vehicle. I tried to explain to him that the vehicle does have a lot of miles and prior to him bringing the vehicle to us it had hardly any maint done to the vehicle. We at Toyotech try to fully inform all of our customers with any repairs or maint work needing to be performed but never try to pressure our customers in to repairs. We are only human though, we cannot see what will happen in the future especially when a vehicle has over 180,000 miles. We strive for exellence and hope one day he will return as a customer and we can exceed any of his reasonable expectations."
