Blue Shield of California

I have had Blue Shield of California for quite a few years, my policy is a PPO & we have been pretty happy with them, my only dislike is my daughters policy which was an individual PPO & when the new Obama care program went into effect the dropped her along with all the individual health plans. They did provide another plan for her which they said was the same; but as it turned out it wasn't, since it fell into the California care program( Obama care) and several Doctors & Hospitals do not accept this program.

10 Spent 2 hours on the phone to resolve the problem and was told that it would resolved within 10 days. After 10 day period I discovered that they had not reactivated my policy and ended up spending another 1+ on the phone trying to find out what was going on. Was told that they would put a priority response which would resolve the issue within 72 hours. The 72 hour period has passed and I am now on the phone with them again because the issue wasn't resolved and I am still without health coverage for me and my infant daughter. They are trying to tell me the issue is unresolvable and I am without insurance.

Blue Shield answered phone immediately. I explained the health issue to the nurse on call, she asked a series of questions, and offered some advice over the phone. This service is free, and saved making a trip and paying for an office visit. The nurse was pleasant and professional. This was a very inexpensive and efficient way to manage a minor health issue.

I have been a member of Blue Shield for many years now. I have also been with others before hand. I continue to choose Blue Shield based on how they have been to me. I have never had an issue with claims that couldn't be handled, there turn around time for approval of a necessary procedure is far better than any I have ever used or hear of others. I will admit when you look at price and that is what you focus on it's higher. The saying is you get what you pay for. In the case of Blue Shield that is the case with me. Sure I could save myself money but I won't get what I need. They have been there for me when needed and even some of the things that you have or have done they will call you themselves and ask if you have any questions or if your feeling okay. They will even mail you tips on how to help with your condition.

Any time we have dealt with this company, we have been satisfied.
