We also love them because they are willing to do coaching as well, for their usual hourly rate. Advice on sprinkler systems, what to plant, landscaping, etc. Also they gave us a fantastic referral for stump removal to a guy who was just wonderful.
Can't say enough good things about them.
I was told this would take her half a day for the job at $40 per hour. Seemed reasonable at a total cost of $160.
When Vivian showed up she had her husband with her.
Long story short, at the end of the job which took 3 hours the cost should have been $120 but Vivan told me her cost would be $240!
I was taken aback but unfortunately I was a bit confused so I paid her the $240. I immediately went back to check my emails to find her original quote of $160 ($40 per hour x 4 hrs) and e mailed Vivian June 6th.
Vivians response was to email me about how she is part of a gardening Guild, how she needed two people for the job, which is all fine but the bottom line is that she came out before the start of the job and physically looked at the job site and the plants I wanted potted or repotted and quoted me a price for the job which was $160. If she at the last minute decided she needed help then she should have told me BEFORE the job started that her fee would be ~$90 more than her original quote. I would have gone with someone else.
In Vivians June 6th email to me she did say she would try to work something out with me since I needed additional work done in August but honestly I think I'm going to just have to take a loss on this one as I just don't want to deal with this feeling of being dupped anymore.
I'm most disappointed in that I hired Vivian to support a fellow female only to end up feeling ripped off in the end. Its unfortunate, but lesson learned always always confirm the cost BEFORE someone starts a job for you. Get it in writing if you can.
Pro's:
1) The job site was left clean enough and the trees she planted into the ground look good.
2) She knows her soil and knows what you need to amend your soil with.
3) Pleasant demeanor.
4) She showed up on time for both the initial estimate and on the day the job was performed as well.
Con's:
1) Cost was way over what was quoted.
2) I had to pick up ALL 10 of the heavy soil bags from American soil myself and had to move them all into the backyard myself.
I had to do this again because I could not get a response from her on if she would be doing this.
3) Non responsive, you will need to be the one following up with her.
4) Seemed like a bait and switch.
