Description of Work: Because our kitchen/family room has high ceilings and stays quite cool in the winter, we wanted to add a gas fireplace AND have a cabinet that displayed the fireplace and would enclose a wide HDTV. Wallbeds by SANDMAR designed and built this custom cabinet for us.

Description of Work: On May 25, 2011 we gave a cash deposit of $3,600.00 to Sandmar Enterprises ( AKA Wallbeds by Sandmar in El Cajon, CA) for a custom made wallbed, office system, and cabinets, Subsequently we made regular payments on the total cost of the items that we had ordered based upon the original invoice provided by Sandmar Enterprises on June 30, 2011. The regular payments were made over a period of 5 months and totaled $16,600.The last payment was made 10/6/2011. To date, Aprill 6, 2012 , Wallbeds by Sandmar have not completed the project, fixed the mistakes they made, or refunded our money as we have requested on several occassions. Our repeated attempts to get the furniture we ordered completed were not ignored, but the response from Sandmar Wallbeds was to reissue several modified billing statements from their original invoice. On their website , www.Sandmarwallbed.com, it specifically states that "we will never tease you with a low ball price. All our pricing includes the mattress, handles, installation by a licensed and insured contractor and the sales tax." Subsequently on each new Sandmar invoice the billing increased as they had "jacked up" the prices and added charges for labor and material that we provided to help them expedite our remodel. Recently it was confirmed to us that Sandmar Wallbeds( and the Sole proprietor) filed for Chapter 13 Bankruptcy on November 7, 2011. Furthermore, we made payments to Sandmar Enterprises both before and after they had filed for bankruptcy. One can only deduct that the inflated billing was an attempt by Sandmar to hide the fact that we gave them a total of $16,600.21 ( material cost included) from the Bankruptcy court and that they never intended to complete our project or return our money. We have contacted other Wall Bed Manufacturers and they will not complete a project that has been started by a competitor wall bed company. In other words, it would be more cost effective to build a brand new wall bed, office system, and closet space with cabinets. Thus the reason we wanted the full amount reimbursed. Unfortunately ,Sandmar Enterprises owes alot of people, business, and the government money. Since the money they owe use is an unsecured debt, we are at the bottom of the list when it comes to paying back any money. WARNING to consumers! Don't make the same mistake that we did and have Sandmar Enterprises remodel your home! They have filed for Bankruptcy! They are not members of the BBB and there are no reviews available on Angies List! You may not get your product and if you do, the workmanship is poor quality.
