June 22, 2013, The first time they came, a supervisor and a young man came to clean. When they left I found that they had scrubbed off the paint in two places from a cabinet in the bathroom. When I called to complain, the supervisor and another woman came, with much laughter and a paintbrush to paint the spots they had ruined. I told them that we had illness in the house and I would have to see if we still had that color of paint available. Anyway it would have to be sanded first as whatever they used had raised lumps of pain on the cabinet. I have to go to Lowe's to try to match the paint which I still have not had time to do.
July 18 Two people came. They spent an hour and a half, total 3 hours here for $110.00. The stove was not clean, the shower floor was dirty, there were ashes in the fireplace, workman's fingerprints around a mirror that had been installed on a dresser, wastebasket not wiped out, handprint on a closet mirror that had not been there before, scales in bathroom were not clean, hair on bottom. I told the cleaners about it when they came next.
August 1 - Told cleaners specifically about above problems. They "don't do fireplaces", told me everything was cleaned. As they left I asked if the mirrors were clean and they went back to do them.
August 15 - Paint was taken off in two places from bathroom heater, about 3 years old and rarely used. This is a factory paint job. How could they have done that if they were using any sort of care in what they were doing? Also the mirror in the living room was smeared.
August 29 - When I told the cleaners about the above problems they just shrugged. I called the main office several times during all this and they offered to come out and clean things. I'm not interested in having them come out regularly to fix their problems.
September 12 - The morning after they were here I noticed that there was a chip of paint off the back edge of the refrigerator door - another factory paint job. Also when they changed the bed they left about a three inch portion of the mattress showing. There is an expensive spread on that bed with more than adequate material to reach the floor. They had shoved all the extra material behind the bed at the top against the headboard. Also at one of the other times, I showed them how to make a bed properly and how I wanted it to look when it was finished.
I called Patti Stone-Keith the Branch Manager about all of the above and told her I wanted out of the contract. She offered to send someone out again and fix anything. I suggested that they waive the $245 fee that they would charge if I cancel the contract. She refused to make any allowance for the continual problems they have caused.
I have had several housekeepers but never problems like this. It is actually worth the $245 to be rid of them. Do not ever sign a contract with Merry Maids!

I used them once but never used them again because they did a bad job. There were a lot of minor things that did not get done and I will never use them again.

We had signed a Merry Maids contract for five years. We had a coin collection that was stored in a night stand next to my husbands side of my bed. Never in the last five years had I ever had a reason for looking in the drawer, until I was thinking about reselling them. When I went to the drawer, they were gone. I contacted Merry Maids about the issue, and they said if there was no picture or proof there was nothing they could do about it. In that time, I had never had anyone else in my house who would have access to our bedroom.
Response from Merry Maids of El Cajon
"Because theft is a serious matter, we requested that the member contact the police department and assured her we would fully cooperate with them. Per the member comments she had not looked in the drawer for 5 years and had no idea how long the coins had been gone. This happened back in March 2011 and Merry Maids has never been contacted by the police department or the member's insurance company. Unfortunatley, due to this Merry Maids lost a wonderful customer. If the police department determine that someone in the Merry Maids Family took these coins they will be immediatley terminated and we would cover the cost of the stolen items"

I would rate the wook good......follow-up by management not good at all. They should check on work performed to see if all needs are being met. They may want to change out workers once in a while to keep them from getting complacent.

They were terrific. They work hard. They don't quit. They are thorough and it was an absolutely beautiful job. I am very pleased with them. It is worth the money you pay.

They did a good job at cleaning and completing the work orders that were given to them. I will not be able to hire them again as that location has moved or may be changing to a different management but I was happy with them overall.

I really don t like that they send out different people every time they come out. I would rather have just one person come out so I know that I can trust them in my house. They do really good cleaning jobs though and I can t complain about that part of it. I like them and that is why I keep using them.

I was told they would work for 4 hours. They were ready to quite at 3 hours and 45 minutes. The lady in the kitchen had not done the floor or gotten the cobwebs like I was told they would. The cleaned inside the refrigerator when I was told they wouldn't. Some of the cleaning was left undone. I had a crash while she was cleaning a lamp in the dining room. A shelf in one of my hutches had fallen down. It wasn't very well secured but she didn't inform of what happened. I haven't heard back from them. They didn't call back to see if I was satisfied. My opinion is that the service was overpriced for what they did. Some things they cleaned really well but other things didn't get done at all. My experience was not a good one.
