It took a very long time. Three to four months, to get the electrical panel. If it wasn't the time that it took. There was ventilation that needed to be closed off, and he hazardously put some aluminum pieces in, and caulked it, and it wasn't an good job.  He came to do the electrical panel, but there was some vents that needed covered by the gas line, and the city told him he needed to cover it up. Basically its aluminum, that is crushed up covering the area up. He kept, he wouldn't come over, or answer. He would schedule an date, and I would take off of work, and he wouldn't show up. When the work from April to November, it was absolutely ridiculous. Just because the price is ok. The quality is one thing, it plays into account. His responsiveness, I wasted money taking off from work. It wasn't cost effective. He wouldn't show up, or call that he couldn't make it. I can understand other people have emergency, but he asked like he is the only one working for this company. He has two workers working with him. His grade for him not showing up on time, or without any information, after he agreed to an time, made my experience horrible. April was when I ordered it, didn't finished it until November. It was a bunch of permits, got to get so and so. It was quick, just getting him out here was the issue. I would wait for him, and he would text me, and not show up.
Response from Martin Electric
"This project was purchased from one of our "big deal" offers. The offer SPECIFICALLY stated for overhead service. This project was an underground service feed which did not meet the requirements of the deal. I honored the purchase anyway (my mistake). I had to coordinate with SDGE and they required a bush to be cut in front of the transformer and a vent that was behind the gas meter to be covered. This customer was supposed to get his homeowners association to cut the bush down, after months of waiting i wound up cutting it down myself. I told him i did not do work such as covering a vent up and he begged me to just do it. I told him how i would do it and after he was happy with it, he writes the above review. I told him numerous times not to take off work, all of the project did not require me to enter the house and was outside. It was a bunch of small details of waiting for inspections, meeting with SDGE and just prep work for the new panel. He says above he would not hire me again, yet he had us install recessed lighting and relocate hanging fixtures for him AFTER we did this project. Not once did he inform me of his dissatisfaction. I guess no good deed goes unpunished."

Great service - he showed up on time and was gracious to work around other repair folks who came at the same time. I asked him also to bid on changing out my whole panel, but he told me I didn't need that done - my panel was one of the good ones - how's that for honesty?!! I will hire him again anytime!

For me the whole experience with Martin Electric got off to the wrong start when I purchased a deal on Angie's List for a 200 Amp Panel Upgrade for $2200 on Nov 16th. Bill emailed me the next day thanking me for the purchase and stated he needed to get SDGE planning docs before he could start the job - I promptly responded and told him I already had the planning docs. He replied the same day acknowledging my email but never scheduled a day to complete the work. I did not heard back from him until Dec 6, 19 days later after already purchasing the deal for $2200. I had emailed him twice asking when we could sked the service. Bill's son Brandon did the job. Not the greatest customer service guy. Didn't explain to me what he was going to do - I had to pull it out of him with multiple questions when he showed up Friday morning. Since I am not an electrician I didn't know what questions to ask and therefore had really no idea what he was going to do and how long it would take. I was just hoping at that point everything would turn out ok since he definitely wasn't going to explain anything to me. I noticed his dad's van pull up outside the house around 1000, when I looked outside 10 minutes later it was gone, he never introduced himself or explained the job to me, nothing. Just checked up on his son, and left the house from what I could tell. At the end of the day I checked on Brandon, they said they were done but had to come back with mounts they didn't have in their truck. The power line from the street didn't reach to the new riser pipe on the roof so they had to jerry rig from the old pipe to the new one and instead of being forthcoming with the shortfalls of the job I again had to ask all the questions to get the answers from Brandon, which were not answers at all: telling me that SDGE has to install a new line. I had to ask him when that would be and if they would ensure it gets done - then I had to ask once that is complete if they will then come back and remove the old post and connect the new one properly so it doesn't look secondhand and jerry rigged. Also, had to ask him to show me the new panel, when he did, I realized he didn't label the breakers as they were before and then had to ask him to label them, which he said he would do when he came back to fix the numerous other items. They did not clean up after themselves either. Sunday evening Bill emailed me stating the permit would cost $300, "how would you like to settle that?". After everything that had happened I was curious as to why after the work had already been completed he was now telling me I owed him $300 more for a permit (the cost also seemed high just for an electrical panel upgrade permit). I replied and told him he should have addressed the permit and it's associated cost with me beforehand - he responded with an attitude saying I could pull the permit myself and save a "little" money. I said I would on Tuesday. I came to find out on Tuesday when I pulled the permit myself that the work should not have even been started without a permit and that the total cost would be $111.50! He tried charging me almost $200 profit just to pull the permit, AFTER the fact. I also believe, but cannot prove, the only reason he now needed the permit was to get SDGE out to my house to install a new, longer power line since the old line didn't reach the new riser Bill installed - shady to me, to say the least. Had the power line been long enough, I suspect he would've done the entire job illegally without a permit! When I notified him I had the proper permit, he then asked me to schedule the inspection for the following day - in my head I was wondering what exactly I am paying HIM for, but reluctantly scheduled it myself since I was tired of dealing with him by this point. It has now been almost a month since they installed the permit and my riser is still jerry rigged and I have not heard from Bill Martin to follow up. I do not recommend using Bill Martin electric for any of your Electric needs.

Showed up 1.5 hours late without explanation or apology. In a hurry to leave after 1 hr. Original repair was completed but he did not have time to make good on the extra hour I purchased through Angie's List. Generally he was surly and unprofessional. He did offer to return at a later date to complete the extra hour I bargained for, but I think I would rather do it myself and just write off the excessive charges to experience.

I'm happy to have found Bill Martin to do electrical repairs. After checking the panel and recent work I'd had done ( in a very hot attic - and he remained very professional and congenial! ), he started checking the outlets. The second one needed replacement, and everything else came on.
So glad to have found a pro who showed up and did the work for the quoted price.
Thanks, Bill!

I could not have been more happy with Martin Electric's service.  I have tenants living in the house so the power going out was initially an emergency until it came back on a few hours later after pushing some buttons on the panel.  Many of the companies I called before Bill Martin wanted my first born and were salivating over the emergency surcharge for an emergency call.  I understand the surcharge, but Bill seemed much more reasonable than the others so I hired him.  Bill seemed to be extremely knowledgeable and thorough, so his more "reasonable" prices were not because he was any less experienced. Based on the conversations we had over the phone, it was apparent to me that he is more interested in giving his customers VALUE than padding his pockets.  When I do business with people, that is my number one criteria.

Bill came over at 8:00 a.m. sharp (as scheduled) the morning after I spoke with him.  He assessed the situation, tightened some wires at the subpanel, and told me I was better off (in the pocketbook) to wait for the power to fail completely than to have him go on a hunting expedition which could potentially take hours.  I have zero knowledge of electrical stuff and I am out of state, so he easily could have told me anything and I would have authorized and paid it to ensure my tenants' safety.  I prefer not to disclose what he charged me, but it was way more than fair, and I was so appreciative.

When I first spoke with Bill Martin over the phone, I immediately felt good about him.  He is not a big talker or salesman, but he get's the job done and has a lot of integrity.  I was so glad to happen on to him and will definitely hire him in the future.

Bob did excellent work and made sure that the work he was doing fit the needs of the house and my future plans with it. He saw that the current location of the existing box was not ideal and relocated it. Plus he worked with sdg&e for me to make sure that the recent undergrounding they have been doing would be Installed into the bottom of the box instead of using 2 masts on the roof. My house will look much better without those.
