The work started on schedule, the crew was polite, efficient and did quality work. They answered any questions I had. By end of demo day 1, it was determined that our stairs were poorly made. One of the salesmen came back out to quote us a price on rebuilding the stairs. This was an additional 1000 dollars. Work was done on schedule and completed on time. We had an issue with the pump not running. They had their electrician work on the wiring. He had to come back more that once because the pump failed a second time. They charged us to re-run the wires. That was an additional 500 dollars. We also noticed some damage when the acid wash was done. They said damage has been repaired, not really sure since it is now under water.
The workers were efficient and skilled. They did a fantastic job. I loved the result. I had an issue with communication with the company. When filling the pool they did not provide me with help when problems came up. I had to call several times and was left to try and figure things out myself.
I would hire this company again because I think their work is fantastic. I would just ask for better communication during the process and especially when the pool is being refilled. The instructions they left were not helpful.
They are one of the biggest pool re-plasterers in the state. The pool did not hold water and they knew it at the time. When they came out it was empty and cracked. They said they were going to repair my pool but within 6 months it was leaking again. I did everything they upsold me on. It was over $26,000. I am going to continue to hammer them on the internet. I did not file against the bond on their company within a two year period. It was written in the contract that they are not liable for structural problems, but I am the consumer and they did not fix my problem. I even had the owner and foreman come out come out repeatedly. They were supposed to pour the decks and did not do that right and also did not fix my pool. The cost of the service was a bit pricey and I was thinking I was going to get a premium job. I did not go cheap and went with one of the biggest companies in California. I saw their work and interviewed other people but they did not have problems. I think they were inadequate in order to address the problems I had but they boldly went and took my money but did not really address the problems with the soil and pool. They should have known better because they have been in business a long time. The decks they put in were one-quarter inch lower than another level so it was enough to make my kids stumble. The decks were uneven. There was probably $4,500 worth of plumbing and $2,500 worth of tile. That, I have no problems with. But the pool did not hold water after 6 months and I started complaining. They came out and said they were not liable. I questioned them and they said I signed the contract and it did not say anything about structural. They were supposed to assess at the time they demolished the pool whether I needed any special repairs at that time. They told me it looked good and things were fine and slam dunked it, not addressing the problems. I am just a consumer and did not double or triple question. I did, but they repeatedly said it would be fine. Well, it was not. And then then decks deteriorated and I had sections of those drop. When they poured new cement the two colors of the old and new concrete don't match. They brought the local cement company out and they said it was not the cement. It was the preparation of the soil. They did not compact or put pea gravel in. They did not do the things that were necessary to stabilize the soil so I would not have these problems. They would get back to me in days, sometimes a week. They told me sometimes they would see me in two weeks. My impression is that once they got me money, they put me on the back burner. Then they would constantly blow me off. When I tried to lean on them they would do something, but it never came down to repairing the problems. I still have the problems, but unfortunately I filed to late to use the current systems including the contractor's licensing board or the bond company. It would have been too expensive to hire an attorney.
What they did right:
- The installation was pretty quick once they got started
- The plaster looked good at first
What they did wrong
- Underbid the job by about $2,000
- Were a day late starting
- Left the pool with a leak somewhere
- The plaster is of poor quality, already chipping and etching two years later, though
- Referred a horrible solar panel repair company to us
- Hired a bare-minimum startup guy who was just awful
- Won't return calls about anything

Very pleased.
They did not arrive on the day scheduled....a prior job held them up..and I was OK with that...because I'd rather they not start a job if they don't stay around to work through all problems.
They did arrive a day or two after and had a whole crew work 4-5 hours to do the job right. I was still uncertain but they went through all that they had done and any questions I had and showed me that they anticipated problem areas. They also cleaned up after themselves.
The next day they performed an acid wash and discovered a leak....uh oh. They put in a patch and said to fill the pool....I was uncertain but there isn't much choice of waiting....the plaster needs water immediately to cure and the pool needs to be weighed down to avoid being pushed up by water in the soil underneath.
Well, the patch didn't work out...but gardener came back and had a diver expertly fix it so that one couldn't even tell there had been any problem. This is january cold temperatures w/o any heating for the pool. Later on, gardener came out and addressed any slight blemish areas I notified them about. The support has been great.
The pool does look awesome and the finish seems to have been installed properly.
Note that there isn't any such thing as a perfect plastering job....there is even one or two spots I still think may need some work ....but all plastering jobs have problems and defects, it's fundamentally a very tricky process, but I'm essentially convinced that gardener did the best job possible here and do honor commitments to their customers. I'm hoping I'll not need to worry about plastering repairs for a long time to come.
