First, the contractor assured us workers would keep dust to a minimum and that we would not need to cover our adjacent bedroom furnishings with plastic, move into another bedroom during the project, or seal the door opening with plastic because his workers were very clean and would do it for us. Came home to find a thick layer of dust covering everything in bedroom, family room and kitchen. Called contractor and advised of situation. On day three came home to find some kind of board installed on floor as tile backing. We had been told all tiles would be floated on cement as we requested. Called contractor to advise. On day 4 plumbing started. Came home to find plumbing very sloppy with pipes not running straight or soldered at right angles. (My husband was a plumber in the navy and has overseen 3 bathroom remodeling jobs for our son's high end homes in the last 2 years.) Requested contractor to come on site and check quality. Had to call twice before he came. On day 5 hot mop done in shower. Came home to find a single layer of black tar paper had been layed with many wrinkles, gaps in coverage, and overlaps in the paper which would not prevent water seepage. Tar coverage was haphazard with obvious gaps where no tar coating at all. Complained to contractor who responded "no one has ever complained before" and "if there are any problems I stand by my work". On Saturday morning the worker returned to start installing the black paper around the walls of the shower. We asked him to stop work. The next morning as we were examining behind the tar paper for no real reason other than we just were not comfortable with the lack of quality, my husband found the insulation wet because of a leak in the new plumbing. Had we not stopped the worker, the wall would have been sealed up with a leaking pipe. Later we found the mixer had been installed upside down and a diverter had not been installed deep enough to have allowed for a flat tile job. The contractor's response was that he could call a better plumber from UCLA (as if that would make a difference) if we wanted him to. Requested contractor to not return to jobsite. Later after settling on what tile we had paid for we needed to order additional bullnose. The bullnose we received was not completely glazed and Duarte Tile & Stone's response was " my other customer didn't complain".

They were punctual to the estimate appointment. Their price was very resonable. They showed up on time and perform their jobs as they promsied. No complaints.

The price was reasonable. They were very conscientious about wanting to please and were willing to change a paint color on some molding when I selected a paint color not to be appropriate.

Customer service in the store was excellent. The owner was very friendly and helpful, he listened to what I wanted, didn't try to steer me to something more expensive and gave a quick, fair price. Installer showed up an hour late -- stuck in traffic but failed to call to inform me. Tile installation was competently performed.

Our shower pan failed and was sending water seeping into the bedroom, which we didn't discover until we moved furniture out to do painting. We agreed to have the shower pan and five rows of tile rebuilt. Demolition resulted in cracks extending above the fifth row, so we had to negotiate going to eight rows (additional $200). The situation was pretty much unavoidable, since breaking out 70 year old concrete on the walls causes some pretty good stress on the walls. The workers were good about cleaning up every day, but dust from the concrete gets everywhere. After that, the tiling went well, and the result was good. My only complaint was that a few of the cuts made to fit tile at the floor edges, could have been done with more precision, so as the grout lines would look uniform in thickness.

We stopped by the shop and selected the granite and backsplash and signed the contract with half of the cost as a down payment. A few days later, two of Raul s men came over and cut and installed the granite. The installation went well although the joint between the two slabs could have been less noticeable. Raul was always available for us to answer any questions we had. They put a hole in for the sink and faucet, but not for the air hole for the dishwasher. The following workday a workman came in and drilled the hole for air hole, and then two men came over and worked on installing the travertine backsplash we had ordered over the Internet a picture on 20 tiles to be installed over the stove. The next day they did the grout. They did an excellent job with the backsplash. Both cleanup and the plumbing connections of the sink, faucet, and dishwasher could have been better; however there were old pipes under the sink which made it difficult. There eventually were leaks so we had to call a licensed plumber to fix. If you are replacing the sink, faucet, and garbage disposal, it is recommended that a licensed plumber do the work when the connections need to be made. All-in all, the counter and back splash look amazing.

Excellent experience. Good work, would use them again. A good thing: they gave me three estimates based on three different arrangements such as bullnose, square edge, backsplash or no backsplash, etc. They were the most responsive of all the granite countertop businesses I contacted. I highly recommend them.

Went to the showroom and chose granite pattern. Raul explained the whole process in detail and quoted us a very reasonable price. Once the cabinets were installed, by another company, Raul set up his installers within 3 business days, as opposed to 2-3 weeks quoted by other installers. On the day of installation, 4-5 workers showed up on time and spent the entire day completing the job. The work was excellent and the granite looks fantastic.
