The owner, Joey Wood, came by earlier in the week and gave me an estimate of $1850 do do the work listed above less one of the outlets in the garage. He explained the work he would be doing in detail and why some of it was driven by the code requirements. The estimate included a Murray 40 breaker 200 amp panel and I said I would prefer the Square D panel so he agreed to use it in place of the Murray for the same cost. I arranged to have him do the work later in the week. He arrived at 8:30 AM as scheduled with one assistant and completed the work in about 6 hours.
The panel is recessed into the wall so he had to cut the stucco to fit the new panel. When completed, there was a gap of about 2 inches on the sides that needed to have the stucco replaced. The work on the main panel and the sub panel was very well done and they cleaned up after they were finished.
The final cost was $50 more than the estimate because I asked for a second 220 amp circuit added in the garage so we agreed to change the contract amount to $1900.
The power to the house was only off for about 3 hours while he worked on the main panel and then he completed the rest of the work on the sub panel and garage in another 3 hours.
Joey did an excellent job, was very prompt and everything worked well when he was done. All of this at a very reasonable cost!
