Despite this, I received a quote for 18K BTU for ~$4,000 and 24K BTU for ~$6000. The same make/models are sold on the Internet, and the difference between the 18K and 24K models is $400. I went to the office and asked what is the difference in labor cost between 18K or 24K system installations. They said that the difference is insignificant. I asked what explains the $2000 difference in price, but could not get any straight answer. I asked to redo the quote for the system I wanted, 12K BTU.
After that I had to call back twice and stop by again to finally receive a call back, telling me that $4,000 price is actually for the 12K BTU, system, not 18K BTU, and that it was a typo. This never came up during these two follow-up calls, or in a face-to-face meeting described above.
In my opinion it would be more honest to refuse to work on a small project, or tell me outright, that whether they install 12K or 18K the price is roughly the same for them to make their profit, and that I will get more value for the price of 18K BTU system.
Long Story: I am an engineer and I get into details, way into details. Angel came out to review the home and also sent me the quote. My house is oddly configured and I wanted the condenser in a spot that made the job MUCH more difficult. The other companies quoting the job refused to even consider the job in my proposed configuration. My proposed placement meant larger line sets as it was a long run for the coolant lines and it also meant a LOT more work. Well, these guys did it. They did it with a smile and they did a very high quality job. I was crawling around under the house and also in the attic with the installers making my opinions known about how I wanted the work to be done. They were awesome! Alex and Edward were the installers and I could not have been happier with the two! They worked hard, they did the job right, they listened to my concerns and addressed ALL of them! I was probably one of their most complicated and demanding customers and it was really nice to see them shine even with the difficult job and the demanding customer. Julio, one of the owners, was also involved from time to time. He is an extremely hardworking and honest guy. It is rare when you find a company these days who commits to EVERYTHING they say and does it right the first time with a smile. These guys did exactly that. I would have done it all over again with them for sure, not a doubt in my mind. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions on this company. I HIGHLY recommend them!!
very hot weather; so we decided to fix the air. The air conditioner man
arrived looked at the machine for about 15 minutes, fixed the problem
and left. Easy quick and now a month later, it still works.
