Saul's Painting

Saul arrived promptly for estimate. He addressed many issues and quoted a very reasonable price. I was a pest days before the work and kept texting questions to him. He was very patient and reassuring in his responses. This was a two day job and he worked with his brother, Louis. They very well organized, prompt, and clean. Afterwards I thought the trim in one room needed another coat. Saul explained it was the shadow but Louis did apply another coat anyway. He was right. Saul was the only person out of four estimates who said he would open cracks in wall and repair them properly. He also put a chemical in when he repaired bathroom that would prevent it from returning. He was kind, professional and he feels trustworthy.

This was the second time I've used Saul, after he painted my ceiling 7-8 years ago.  This time, Saul came out several months ago and provided with a detailed estimate of what exactly would be done.  His estimate was very thorough, and his pricing was very reasonable.  In fact, when I showed Saul's paint job to my contractor when it was done and asked him what he thought it cost or what he would've charged, Saul's price was a few hundred dollars less than what my contractor, who is also very reasonable, would've charged.  The job included cabinets in a couple bathrooms and all doorways and doors.  Saul is very knowledgeable about what type of sheen and paint should be used in different areas.  For example, if you have interior doors and door frames that are already painted with oil-based paint, you shouldn't use water-based paint to repaint those areas.  I never would've known this, but now I know that any painter who tells you otherwise is cutting corners because the water-based paint will start peeling off within a few months.  After I finished my kitchen remodel last month, we scheduled a time within a couple weeks for Saul to come out and start the job.  Saul and his team were very careful to not damage anything and covered all areas with plastic and/or canvas before they started prepping everything.  The entire job took exactly as long as he thought it would at the outset of the job - just under four days.  Saul's work is fantastic.  You can tell that he and his brothers aren't sloppy and took their time to do a good job.  All patchwork is flawless and all paint along edges where there are different colors, such as white ceiling and colored falls, are perfectly edged.  I'm very picky, and what really impressed me was that if I saw something that I wanted re-done (additional coating in an area, missed drip that wasn't sanded off, etc.) when he finished a room, he never questioned my comments and took the time at the end of each day to go over those spots.  Also, my contractor, who is also very meticulous, was impressed with Saul's work, so much so that he asked me for his contact information after the job was done.

Saul and his crew were great. This was the 2nd time Saul has done a job for me and it won't be the last. We arranged a time for him to provide a quote to do the work and his bid was detailed and thorough. We scheduled a time the next week to start and he arrived exactly when he said he would. We had a vanity that was in good structural condition, but needed repair. We had it painted an off-white and it looks amazing now. He and the crew were careful with all carpet and furniture and made sure to tape and cover areas where they were painting. On the last day, I realized I had some drywall repair in the ceiling due to a leaking pipe. Saul patched, textured and painted it so perfectly, I couldn't even see a seam or where the old texture started and new began.
