I would not recommend this company at all. Their actions, or rather inactions show a lack of professionalism. I had a 10:00 a.m. appointment. They had assured me that they would call or text me at least an hour before. However, I received no communication from them. Finally, at 10:30 a.m. I called the owner's line directly, and of course only got voicemail. I left a very detailed message asking for clarification as to whether their schedules got crossed, or some emergency came up. But come the end of the day I still received nothing from them. Go elsewhere, I received much better professionalism from several other options.

The cabinets and closet fixtures were purchased at Lowes. ( This amount was included in my estimate of expenses). The kitchen/bathroom designer at Lowes worked closely with Luis Hernandez, the owner of Cal. Home Improvements and with me to design both the bathroom and the closet. Luis worked with me to pick out and purchase all of the other fixtures. I paid for them at the vendors and received Luis' discount. He does not mark up the products purchased for his jobs, which is an excellent saving for the customer.Luis is very attentive to detail. When it was time to purchase the tiles I selected, the tile vendor told us they were no longer available. Luis went shopping with me to find replacements. We found tiles I liked both at Lowes and at another store. Luis suggested that I choose the tiles at Lowes because they were much less expensive than the other tiles. They worked out perfectly and look gorgeous. Lous and his crew do phenomenal work. He is willing to re-do tasks if they do not meet the customer's approval. For example, Lowes' design of my closet did not take into account a short wall. When the dresser and shelves were installed on that side of the closet, I immediately realized that I would not have enough room for my clothes. Luis re-designed the closet, which including the addition of a number of shelves. After the entire closet was installed, I noticed that the shoe unit did not have enough shelves. Luis purchased additional shelves and installed them. I highly recommend California Home Improvement. In fact, I am using them again to replace windows in my house.

I purchased kitchen cabinets through Lowes and had them installed and other remodeling work done by California Home Improvements. I paid Lowes for all of the work.Most people I know have horrible experiences with contractors - Mine was just the opposite.The owner of the company, Luis Hernandez was fantastic. From the beginning, he and his crew were punctual, did a phenomenal job and were a pleasure to work with. In fact, they even fixed some things (tiling) that had been intalled by someon else. They also added several things and did not charge me for them. My kitchen is gorgeous and I couldn't be more pleased. I did not like the dishwasher that I purchased from Lowes and California Home Improvements installed a new one for me. The new one was delivered damaged and so they came back and installed the replacement. My experience was so good that I have hired California Home Improvements to remodel my bathroom and my closet. I am going to have them do everything, including the tiling, I have already recommended California Home Improvements to a number of friends who plan on remodeling and I plan on using them for any other remodeling that I do.

I don't think they know what they are doing. They sent out one contractor and his quote was really high. Then they sent another one whose quote was ridiculously low. It seems like the people they use don't even know how to estimate a job. We didn't go with them because we didn't feel like we could trust them. They were all over the map. They were not reliable or trustworthy. They are pushy and keep calling us. We tell them we are not interested and they still keep calling. They did show up when they said they would for the original quote.

I waited about a year to make this report because I wanted to make sure everything they did stood up to real-life use. Speaking as someone who has lived through other remodeling projects, they did a great job. Luis helped the designer think through everything and come up with the best solutions. Then he waited until all appliances, cabinets, etc. were in town and ready for delivery before starting the job. After that, he and his crew were dedicated to this project - which was great - and they were basically in and out within one week. Luis was here every day (although not all day) and whether he was here or not here, his crew was very efficient and totally professional.
