Del Mar Piano

Andy came out and was awesome. I could tell on the phone he knew what he was talking about. He took his time and spent 2 and 1/2 hours tuning a old piano that was my moms. It had been over 15 years old since it had been tuned. You could tell Andy could hear the notes and it was amazing to watch him skillfully listen and fine tune it. Being a spinnet piano that is over 51 years old he did a great job. It was not a easy job. In addition he was able to look up the serial number and get additional info on when it was built. Very honest and skilled. He wasn't the cheapest of the quotes but he is worth the extra little bit of cost. Don't hesitate to use Andy. Thanks again Andy.

Andy Murphy is the sole proprietor of Del Mar Piano. He is very professional as well as a nice guy. Andy worked for about an hour and the piano sounded great. I will definitely call him again.

Scheduling was easy, and Andy had an appointment available soon after I contacted him. He came out exactly as scheduled and spent time tuning out player piano. When he was finished, the piano sounded great, better than it had in years. Unfortunately, he no longer works on player pianos as he doesn't want to take responsibility in case a wire breaks as these pianos are more difficult to fix.

Very professional. Was right on time. Full of interesting information about my piano. After ~90 minutes of tuning, my piano sounds amazing. I will be using him again with any problems I have in the future with my piano along with future tuning! Thank you Andy:-)

Andy was terrific! We had an unusual situation: an older upright (circa 1900) shipped cross-country for the benefit of a relative--a music lover-- who recently suffered a stroke and for whom piano lessons were prescribed to help him work on the weakness in his right hand/arm.
I filled Andy in on the details of the situation. We wanted the piano to sound good, but we didn't want to spend a lot to bring it up to and quot;concertand quot; standard--at least not until we know if the idea of piano lessons as stroke recovery will work.
Andy made an expert assessment of the piano and did exactly what was needed. The price was extremely reasonable, and the piano now sounds great! New to San Diego myself, I am happy to have found someone so skilled and so honest in his dealings with customers. I recommend Andy and Del Mar piano enthusiastically and without reservation.

I had been looking for a regular piano tuner, and most of our friends with pianos (a small handful) didn't have anyone that they particularly recommended. I turned to Angie's List, and reached out to Del Mar Piano. Andy got back to me right away, and although he mentioned that his schedule can be quite full, he was able to fit me in on exactly the day that I had planned to work from home (three days from the time I first contacted him).
Andy showed up exactly on time, and even spent a little longer with our piano than he had mentioned is typical for him. Very knowledgable, personable, and professional, we will definitely be using Andy again.

Andy Murphy arrived on time and spent almost 2 hours tuning the piano. He had all the necessary equipment to tune a piano with non standard pins, and spent time explaining what he was doing. He had a very pleasant but professional manner. I would definitely recommend him to friends.

Mr. Murphy is pretty booked and was able to meet with our schedule last Friday. Our piano is about 120 years old and surprisingly in excellent condition. He spent over an hour tuning very carefully as the strings are all original.

By the way, he plays piano beautifully and we enjoyed the serenade while he tested the sound. He was courteous and clean.

Andy Murphy, the owner of Del Mar was professional and courteous on the phone. We set a time and date. He was on time to the minute. He spent 3 1/2 hours first doing a two pass tuning to concert pitch. He identified the squeaking hammers and dry lubricated them, and also replaced a broken string. We had talked previously about the brightness of the piano. He listened to my concerns then voiced the hammers accordingly.
The piano has never sounded this good in the years that I have had it. I enjoy sitting at the piano more than ever. Andy's professionalism and talent makes him a sure bet. It is something I really say. I had talked to five other tuners before deciding on Andy and I am glad I did. I had put off this tuning for a while because of a previous unsatisfactory experience. I also felt that given the amount of work, the pricing was extremely reasonable. I learned a lot about my piano during our conversations. He plays the piano quite well too!
