Description of Work: For $95 he came to the house and diagnosed the tv then gave a quote of how much the price of parts and labor is to fix. Unfortunately it cost more to fix than the tv itself.

Description of Work: The technician was prompt and through. He was able to diagnose my TV but sadly it was beyond saving. The cost to repair exceeded the cost of new TV. He thoroughly explained the problem, and issues and costs associated with obtaining the necessary part. I was satisfied with the outcome. I suspected my TV was a lost cause. If I had an issue in the future, I would use the service again.

Description of Work: The tv picture had a lot of fluorescent red and green. He replaced a part and got rid of it entirely. The tv also turns off by itself. I am to leave it off the next time and he will return to read the code that explains the problem at no additional cost, unless another part needs to be replaced.

Description of Work: My contact with this service was brief, but very positive. I described my repair need on the phone. The gentlemen listened attentively and then replied that he could not guarantee his repair efforts would address the problem. It may require extensive trouble-shooting of replacing several parts in sequence. The cost would be prohibitive and he was not comfortable giving this this type of "hit & miss" service. He then gave me a couple of suggestions in the form of a "home remedy." I was left with the impression that this was a man of great personal integrity. In selecting a service provider, is there anything more important than that?

Description of Work: I have a Vizio HD TV. I purchased it in April, 2008, and it had a one year warranty. I purchased an extended service contract from Wal-Mart. Of course, it failed in December, 2011, 8 months out of all warranties and contracts. It would not turn on and the failure was sudden and unexpected. I called Vizio, got a couple of tips for fixing it, some of which did not even match with the Vizio website's suggestions for restarting TV. I was frustrated when the telephone tech help said, "Well, it's out of warranty. We can't help you." I asked them who could diagnose and fix it. I called one of two numbers he gave me and was put on hold 'forever.' I callled the second number and was told I had to mail the TV to BOCA RATON, FLORIDA!!! And the cost to diagnose was 150.00! This did not include repair!!! I live on the West coast. I live in the tech CAPITOL of the U.S.!!! I will not mail a TV to the other coast when I darn well know there have to be people in California who can diagnose and repair!!! I resorted to Angie's List immediately. I found PAR TV services, called Tom parviz Sobhani, who answered the phone immediately, after 6 PM, and he said he could come the very next day. I made an appointment for two days later. Tom could not make his 11-1PM scheduled appointment, and he called me at 12:52 PM to tell me he would be 30 minutes late. His quoted charge, 95.00 to come and diagnose and that that amount would be applied to the repair, satisfied me, since I had been on the internet and I read story after story about people who felt that the cost to repair outweighed the cost to replace a TV, and I felt it was worth it to give Tom a shot at fixing the problem. Tom arrived and was very personable. He diagnosed the TV's power module as being out and he replaced it immediately. The cost of 200.00 is a cost that I cannot yet evaluate, but my TV came on immediately, when he had completed the work. I asked Tom for his opinion about TV brands and he was very informative. I have never had a TV fail in under 10-15 years of service and Tom was blatantly honest about the state of the current TV industry. He gave me information that I will use in my future choices about TV brands. At this point, I am glad that I did not have to replace a $500.00 TV. I have questions about the Vizio brand. But so far, I am happy with Tom's work.

Description of Work: I e-mailed Tom the day before and asked if he could fix our HDMI port on our Samsung LCD television. I told him what days I would be available including this morning. He showed up this morning, less than 24 hours after I first contacted him. He did a diagnostic on the TV and concluded our HDMI port is broken and gave me an estimate for fixing it. The cost of repair is probably not worth the value of the TV. He also gave me a much cheaper alternative which involves going to Fry's and buying a $50 converter box. I was very impressed with his honesty, promptness and competence and I will use him again in the future if needed.
