Steve at Markoff was very helpful in both performing work he promised, repair and replacement of wood siding that had dry-rot, and also in the partial restoration of a Victorian style building in San Francisco. This started out as an external painting of the (front) exterior of the building. Markoff/Steve was recommended by my painting contractor because of dry rot and restoration needed ( it had probably been over 20 years since the building was painted. Ultimately, I was much more satisfied with Steve and his firm then the painting contractor. Steve went above and beyond the call of duty in not only doing an excellent and prompt job on the work promised, but he also was very helpful in dealing with next door neighbors who were not being cooperative in providing access to the sides of my building through their properties. In many cases, he facilitated/negotiated access not just for his workers, but also for the painting contractor (Classic Shades). I would definitely recommend Markoff/Steve.

The inspector used a large screwdriver to gouge holes in the front of our Pacific Heights Victorian building. No attempt was made to patch or repair those holes, even after we contacted them to complain. They canceled two appointments and then just didn't show up for a third one to review the damage. Finally, an inspector came back unannounced. During that visit, he didn't identify himself, didn't admit that he had done the damage, had a smirk on his face the entire time, and tried to make jokes about it. His boss, Paul Markoff, then tried to make excuses for him. According to Mr. Markoff, they had to deface and damage our building in order to tell if there was rot so they could give us an estimate to fix it. I guess that is their version of "We had to destroy it to fix it." Now we have to make cosmetic repairs before the unit can go on the market. Needless to say, I will never allow these people on my property again.
