Concept Materials

We contracted Mr. Gene Spector because he was recommended to us by the electricians who worked for us. I called him, and he immediately answered. I e-mailed information and questions, and although Gene was already on vacation he answered very quickly. Gene works with Cal-Wood Flooring wood supplier. White, or red oak would coast us there about half of what we finally paid to another company, but we decided  to purchase  more expensive  beech wood from Abbey Carpet and Floor based on aesthetics.  Gene had no problems delivering wood from another company. He also was very accommodating to our schedule which changed a couple of times because of contractors. In addition, during his work Gene helped us on a couple of other little repairs that were not part of his contract. Our overall impression was very positive: always helpful, smiling, and polite contractor and his team of two workers, working fast, and doing a great job. We are very happy with results of Gene?s job, and could  gladly recommend him.
Regarding  Gene?s costs: he charges $4.50/sf which includes:
Sub floor preparation
1/4" cork (material and installation)
New hardwood floor installation.
New baseboards (material and installation)
All transition moldings!
Caulking.

Honestly, I don't even know where to begin to describe my fantastic experience with Gene and the Concept Materials team. From quote to finished product, Gene made the process easy and pleasant. I really felt like he took care of me and gave me great value for my money. I wanted the old floors ripped out of my 1600 sq ft loft and replaced with engineered acacia. I got quotes from several places, but there was really no competition. Gene gave me a combination of great price and impeccable customer service, including custom stairs and treads- we're talking hand sanded and varnished solid planks of acacia - that no one else would have even considered.
Communication was constant with all questions and phone calls answered immediately.  Scheduling was never a problem because Gene would go out of his way to work with my schedule and needs, including coming by on weekends or even dropping by my office during the day. Gene explained everything in detail and provided all of the different options so I would be able to make an educated decision. When I asked for several custom things that other flooring places has refused to do, Gene said yes and the end result is fantastic! It was a level of customer service you would expect from only the highest of the high end and it was thoroughly refreshing to receive it!
My floors are beautiful and I am beyond happy with them. I would highly, highly recommend Gene and the Concept Materials team for any of your flooring needs. You won't regret it!

I just bought a 55 year old house, with ugly dirty carpets on the stairs and second floor. Underneath were wood floors! Concept Materials came and ripped out the old carpeting out, cleaned off the grunge, and put a nice finish on. It took them 4 days total, for cleaning out the old, sanding, and putting 3 coats of finish on. The guy who came to do the estimate was professional and friendly. They called me the first day to show me some spots on the floor that they weren't sure they could get out (old stains from pets perhaps) and also to show me a spot where there was plywood instead of the pine flooring. The newly refinished floors are beautiful! There are a few darker spots where they could not get the old stains out, but this is not their fault and I opted for the least expensive option, which was to let them be. They used a water-based finish, and there was a mild smell that went away after a couple days. They cleaned up everything after themselves and left the work space immaculate!

It was superb. I had a few other estimates and the price at this company was great. They were over-the-top good. We were told by Lowe's that because the floor was at an angle, we had to pay another $800 even though we had already paid someone to level the floor before the bamboo was put down. So we called someone from Concept Materials and Gene came out and did the job wonderfully. They were able to deal with the unlevel flooring with a shimming technique at no extra cost. I would definitely use this company again.
