I called Segala Tree Service also known as A & A Tree Service Inc. and left a message requesting an appointment for an estimate to have a hibiscus, juniper, and ornamental peach tree removed from my front yard, all of which are fully grown and mature with deep roots. Javier called me back the next day and agreed to stop by my house to give me an estimate. He quoted me the lowest price so I made an appointment to have the work done. Javier came on time and did a great job. On the day of the job, I requested that a juniper bush be removed, which was not included in the original estimate. Javier charged me only an additional $20 to have it removed. I am extremely happy with the service I received from Javier. He came on time, removed the requested tree and bushes and hauled everything away. He did a great job at a very fair and reasonable price. The other two tree removal companies which gave me estimates wanted about $250 more than the estimate I received from Segala Tree Service. I would definitely use Segala Tree Service again and recommend them to anyone who needs trees and bushes removed from their yard.

Crew of 4 guys came in and performed works as discussed with Javier 3 days prior.    They worked fast and cleaned up all their mess.  The estimate was 40% lower that some of the others I received.  

Javier and his team did a great job. They arrived early and cleaned up any mess. They cut down a lot of palms and removed stumps. They also trimmed some trees. 

We called for an estimate and Javier arrived on time. The estimate was approved and date was scheduled. The completed that work in a timely manner & left the area neat & clean.

They cleaned up very well after themselves. Initially they came out on the first call very timely and it was Javier who wrote up information on what I wanted and left me a proposal. Once I called them to do the work they were here within a couple days and did an excellent job for what I consider to be a very good price based on the other bids.

The experience was really good. I called a few companies. They gave me the best estimate for the work. When they did the job, it was very much upto my satisfaction. They did a good job. I will continue to use them.

Javier offered a competitive bid and was able to start (and finish) the next day. They did a nice job and completely cleaned up. The trees looked nicer than I've ever seen them, a far cry from the "whack job" they got from someone else the last time. I meant to make this report as soon as they were done, but put it off the same way I'd put off the tree trimming until it was past time. Then using their paperwork I was unable to locate A&A Tree Service in Angie's List. Finally by doing a keyword search I found them under Segala, even though they don't use that name. I think Angie's List should put them under the A&A name.

They answered my call for an estimate promptly and were out the next morning. Work was scheduled for the next week. They arrived promptly, did an amazing job, cleaned up and removed all the debris in a most professional manner. The final cost was exactly the same as the estimate.

Company responded promptly, estimate for work was complete and final bill matched. Company provided insurance documents. References were positive. Work was completed quickly and carefully. Final tree form was attractive . Cleanup well handeled.

Phone request for appointment for estimate returned very quickly; very knowledgeable estimator (Javier Carillo, owner I think) suggested that I needed more work than I had thought, and I had to agree; didn't feel pushed or sold, just advised well. Appointment scheduled at my convenience for 7:30am two days later. That morning, the chipper truck showed up at 7am but the men were quiet and kept to themselves until 7:30 when the other men and the crew chief, Mart?n, arrived. Martin was friendly and well-spoken. We walked through front and back yard, reviewing scope of work. We added a couple of tasks but the bid did not change. His 5-man crew was efficient, respectful of the property, careful and skilled. I've seen hack jobs, and this was the opposite. The job was done in the time allotted (less than a day). The work was substantial and professionally executed. The results exceeded my expectation. I was surprised and pleased.

A&A came today right on time and got started. They did a great job protecting our landscaping below the trees and best of all, made the trees look good even though they only got a haircut on one side!

Flawless from start to finish. My original call was returned promptly and Javier came over the same morning for the estimate. Two days later the crew of 5 men started promptly at 7 AM and were finished in 3 and 1/2 hours. They even covered my 15 X 30 pool to keep it clean! They were friendly and responsive I am happy and grateful.

Segala is now doing business as A & A Tree Service. Javier, the estimater, came promptly and gave me an estimate of $275.00. This seemed quite fair so I hired them to trim the overhanging branches of a large Ficus tree, plus a Cypress tree that was intertwined with the Ficus. The two trimmers arrived with a large truck and a wood chipper to remove the trimmings. They worked very efficiently and checked with me about leaving some of the small branches, which I appreciated. They also went onto the roof to trim. When all of the branches were removed they swept, bagged up the debris and hauled everything away. Except for a small glitch in scheduling the work was extremely professional. I was even provided with a copy of the company insurance, as I requested.

I called mid April after reading many good reviews on Angies List. Javier came the day I called and gave me an estimate on the spot. I had two other estimates and Segala/A&A Tree Service came in a couple hundred dollars less then the competition. On the date we had agreed on, he showed up on time with his two workers and the foreman that was overseeing the job. He introduced me and said if I had any questions, I could ask his foreman or call him. He stayed and worked for the first few hours and then went to check up on a couple of other jobs. They removed and ground out root ball of a full grown mature Brazilian pepper tree that was leaning and tangled in another pepper tree, he also cut down to fence level a 40 foot Pittosporum tree. He shaped and cut back my neighbors enormus Eugenia tree to our property line and he "laced" and cleaned up a fully mature pepper tree that had not been trimmed up in many years and had a ton of dead wood. In addition to this, he removed two bogonvilla plants. He also trimmed up three other small trees free of charge. He also was happy to cut up some firewood for us! They did a very good clean up, leaf blower, sweeping and removal of all debris. It was an overall GREAT experience and I will be hiring them again for service in our front yard soon.

We competitively bid the job and got a very thorough written estimate from Javier Carrillo. The team arrived on the designated date and time and worked without pause for the 3 hours needed to get the job done. The crew cleaned up our yard and the neighbor's yard of all trimmings. Work was completed within the estimated timeframe.

They did a better than beautiful job. They were very artistic. I was very thrilled. They cleaned up after themselves perfectly. They put up boards on my windows so no debris would hit them or get in.

The tree removal was great - very fast, they cleaned up perfectly and I was very satisfied, but the trimming job was another matter. They underestimated how much time it would take; only got halfway done before they all went home. Then the crew did not show up the following week for the scheduled appointment, the foreman was here waiting and embarrassed by the non-appearance of his crew. When they finally came back another week later, the job was not finished to my satisfaction, it was ragged and they didn't clean up very well, leaving dead branches tangled in the remaining foliage. They did not, in fact, do everything agreed to in the contract. They acted pissed AT ME because the job turned out to be more work than the estimator thought. Instead of asking for more money or trying to negotiate, they just quit without finishing, with a poor attitude. The price was pretty high and I don't think they were justified in quitting before it was all done. I would not hire them again.

Our call was returned promptly by Javier Carillo of A & A.(Segala Tree Service is now operating under the name of A&A Tree Service). He came at the time he said he would to give us an estimate, and a crew of 5 arrived on the day and time scheduled. They protected our garden with plywood and sawhorses before they started work, and completed the whole job within a few hours. It was important to us that they had adequate insurance, and they brought us proof of insurance. They had a chipper onsite to take care of debris, and did a fine job except for forgetting one large log of the Norfolk pine. We were very happy with their work.

They showed up on time for the estimate appointment, and described what the job would entail. On the day the work was done they arrived late, we were the third customer of the day and they ran over at the earlier jobs. We did receive a call informing us of the delay. There were approx 5 workers and the work was done quickly. One large palm frond damaged the gutter around the house but they repaired and tested it before they left. They cleaned all the debris from the yard & lawn.

We were surprised to see Segala's Tree Service listed on Angie's List, because we had been told they were out of business. But it turns out that Bernard Segala sold his company (which is Doing Business as A&A Tree Service). Javier Carrillo arrived when he said he would to give us an estimate. He wrote out a detailed description of how we wanted the tree trimmed. We made an appointment for Javier and his crew to come at noon a few days later. The crew (3 men) arrived at 12:30, trimmed the tree very nicely for 1.5 hours, completely cleaned up after themselves, and charged us the same $285.00 on the estimate. We were very happy with them.

Terrific. These guys are a bit expensive, but pros. Have used them many times and the trees thrive with their careful attention. Great clean-up and fast as they use big crews.

We got 3 quotes for this job. $375, $450, and Segala's. They were extremely pleasant, and we plan to have them back to do work on maintaining some large border Eugenia and bamboos in the future. The reason they were late was because they were coming from another job and traffic on the 405, I easily reached them when I was worried they would not show up. They were willing to do extra little bits that we asked. They offered information that let us know they knew what they were doing.

Although Segala's service is fairly expensive, he and his crews do excellent work. They are knowledgeable, dependable, trustworthy, conscientious. They take pains to protect all landscaping and structures from damage while they are working (without having to ask them to do so). They clean everything up and haul it away. They come when they say they will and do exactly what has been detailed on the written estimate. They are bonded and insured and will provide copies upon request. I've used Segala for many years and have always been very pleased. The owner, Bernard Segala, recently sold the company to one of his crew, Javier Carrio, and they are now operating under the name A&A, with Bernard remaining on board (for the time being at least) as estimator and scheduler. I've used them one time since Javier bought the company and saw no deterioration in quality of work. I just wish that they were a little less expensive.

IT WAS AN "A". IT'S BEEN VERY NICE. YOU CALL HIS CELL PHONE. IT'S SMALL AS WELL. HE DOES IT. THE MAN WHO OWNS THE COMPANY COMES IN AND DOES THE PROJECT, THE BILLING, AND COMES IN AND DOES THE WORK. HE IS EXCELLENT BUT A LITTLE PRICEY.
